The North Las Vegas City Council and Redevelopment Agency held a joint meeting on May 6, 2026, celebrating the city's 80th anniversary with a historical presentation, issuing proclamations, hearing council reports, handling routine business, and receiving public comments on a variety of topics.
The North Las Vegas City Council and Redevelopment Agency welcomes you to their meetings. There are four public forums set aside for public comments. One at the beginning and the end of the redevelopment agency meeting, and one at the beginning and the end of the city council meeting. If you wish to speak, please complete one of the blue cards, which are located on the table outside the main entrance and the podium rail. Please give your card to the city clerk. When called upon to speak, we request that you limit your comments to no more than two minutes and that you avoid repetition. Madam City Clerk, are we in compliance with the Nevada Open Meeting Law? Yes, ma'am, we are. Thank you. Today we have the opportunity to have the invitation given by Reverend Dan Dean Sander. Sorry, Reverend of Discovery Church. Following that will be the Pledge of Allegiance as led by Hayden Elementary School. Please rise. Thank you. Let's pray. Lord, we love you today. We thank you for the glorious things that you've done in this city. We thank you for the past 80 years and the celebration that's taken place. And uh we pray for the next 80 that your wisdom and guidance would come to our leadership, that you would bring godly leadership, continue to bring godly leadership to this city so that we can enjoy the prosperity and everything that you have for us. Pray, Lord, that as they go through difficult times that you would give them wisdom, direction, and guidance. We pray for this campaign season that everything would be run above board with integrity, and that Lord, your will would be done with whoever is selected to serve. Lord, we thank you for every employee in this city, for every person here that works at this building and around the city. We just ask that you would be with them, that you would bless them. Lord, for our first responders, fire, police, those that are engaged in difficult things and have to make difficult split second decisions every day. Lord, we ask that you would be with them, that your protection would be with them, that they would be able to ferret out and find the evil and those that are in this city for destructive purposes, that you would help them to be found, you would help them to be brought to justice and put away so that we can have the safe city that you desire for us to have. We ask that your hand would be in every decision that's made, and that you would continue to bring your blessing to this great city. We thank you for each of these city council members, that your hand would be with their family as well. We ask all this in Jesus' name. Amen.
