Today we have the opportunity to have the invitation given by Mayor Pro Tim Scott Black.

Following that, we will have the City of North Las Vegas Honor Guard, followed by the National Anthem by Rolanda Green, and the Pledge of Allegiance as led by Kate Johnson and Brynn Blue Booth.

Would everyone please rise.

Grateful for the leadership of the city for our mayor and our city council and pray that we may be guided by inspiration that we can make decisions that will be to the benefit of those that we're called to serve.

We pray for blessings upon our school children and the families in our community and for those that put themselves in harm's way, both in the armed forces as well as our first responders here in our community that they can be watched over and protected as they do their important work.

And I pray for these blessings in the name of Jesus Christ.

Amen.

And brides stars through the pen of spite or the run we watched was so gonely streaming.

And the roll gets around the bums bum sting through through the night.

Or the land of a free and the whole of that.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

And to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all.

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth the separate and equal station to which the laws of nature and of nature's God entitle them.

So we're gonna go ahead and move into council items.

Let's start with you first, please.

Yeah, um so um I wanted to uh since our our first council meeting since we had our pool party, our Paradise Pool Party at Petitty Pool.

Uh say that three or four times kind of fast, right?

Definitely want to thank our park staff, um, especially uh the the pool guy who had that water uh crystal clear, but of course, uh our staff here at the at the C North Vegas uh who also uh helped out with that.

Uh we also had, of course, you know, uh some uh items of food items donated.

Tacos of uh they provided the the tacos, our good friend, um uh Mr.

Uh Coons there from Anderson Dairy.

And uh, of course, the our community partners for uh they were also there for a successful pool party uh last June 20th.

Um on the same day, I I did a quick little detour over to uh the neighborhood recreation center.

Uh just enough time to uh for the raffle for uh donut forget dad, you know, for donuts uh for uh of course uh Father's Day.

And um I want to thank them, of course, for putting on a uh successful event uh and not forgetting dad, you know.

Don't want to take anything away from mom, you know.

Um Sunday, if I um if I work really hard with my son for him to become a baseball pitcher and I'm out there every day, and you know, I take him to all of his games, you know, and I sweat it out, and I spend thousands of dollars to take them all around the country.

And if he makes it to the major leagues, you know, um the very first thing that'll happen is there'll there'll be a pan to his face, right?

And they'll look at the camera, and what will he do?

He'll do this.

But I'm happy that for one day we're not forgotten.

So thank you very much, right.

Um speaking of doing things that are kind of cool, uh, again, uh NRC.

Um I hope you got the frozen hot dogs.

I hope you got the message.

Uh freeze or you have to cut the hot dogs first and freeze them because we're gonna go over to Lorenzi Park, or maybe a different one.

I haven't decided that one, right?

But if we have to go to Lawrence Park, I guess that'll be okay because there'll be catfish there and they hit the uh they hit the hot dog.

Can't have a big old inch long.

You have to slice them kind of uh kind of kind of thick.

They haven't frozen, so the catfish doesn't they don't just like slurp it right off the hook, you know, feel it, right?

Gotta make sure they gobble on it a little bit, and then when you set the hook, you got them.

And that's that's how you teach kids how to fish.

Now, last couple of times we haven't caught anything, but I swear this time we're gonna get one, and then that will ignite the love uh of fishing, you know, kind of like they did with me.

We have to actually catch something.

That means I gotta stop by a store and you know, buy a couple of you know uh fish, whole fish from uh from the thing, and I'll just plant them in there, you know, and I'll just you know, um I'll do that if I have to.

I don't know how I'm gonna make a move, you know, but uh I'll I'll figure something out.

Finally, um again, uh NRC.

I attended the dad's backyard bash at Skyview Multi-Generational Center on June 20th.

The appropriate day to do that.

Um Skyview is now back under the umbrella of the city.

Uh and if you haven't had an opportunity to go up there, um, I I think you should.

Um we've done some uh amazing things.

Um thanks to the uh the parks department and our recenter people up there.

Um the uh YMCA did an amazing job over the years for keeping that uh that facility open for us, but it was time for us to take it back over and kind of uh put it back under the umbrella and get our residents in there, which uh we've begun to do very well.

Um I also uh attended uh the McDonald's ribbon cutting, which was kind of the highlight of my day then.

Uh 2785 West Cheyenne Avenue.

That was on the 26th.

The mayor and I both showed up to make sure we we got uh whatever freebies that we're able to get there.

We could get cookies or something.

Yeah.

Yeah, we we made sure we got our cookies and cut the ribbon and uh did whatever else we had to do to get food.

Um I I don't know if the mayor did or not, but uh they took myself and my wife on the tour of the back and and showed us exactly what they do behind the scenes to get uh our food ready.

And I can tell it was all good.

So don't be afraid.

Uh it's just amazing uh the machinery back there.

It's like AI.

Well, we all know what AI is, but you know, they just followed the directions of the hamburgers and the buns and everything.

The amazing the uh the um the operation is amazing, but the owner over there is a very nice person, him and his wife.

Uh, and I suggest that uh if you want to have a uh a good experience.

Uh they're right on the corner of uh of uh Simmons and uh Cheyenne, right next to uh Thrive uh dispensary, which it should generate enough of business over there in and of that.

Um also recently I went to Sun City Alliante Veterans Club.

They had uh an anniversary celebration, of course, for uh the 250th year of our independence.

Um city is kind of kind of close to me.

I've been representing that uh that community for oh my gosh, maybe since 2009.

Uh and um it always gives me an opportunity to uh to say thank you to them and their their family for uh uh for serving the country and you know the sacrifices that they make.

And that was only for the uh not only for the people that were there and made it back from all of the different trials and tribulations to make sure we have what we're here today, have what we're here today.

But if it wasn't for all of those men and women over the years going back right at the outset, uh we wouldn't be um talking right now, and I wouldn't be talking about McDonald's, and you wouldn't be looking back wondering what is he talking about.

So uh we have to thank our our our armed forces and our veterans for what they did and what they continue to do because very proactive up there in that community.

And uh let me see, last but not least, the KB Home Sandstone Groundbreak breaking.

We went to just uh yesterday, uh, and we entered uh on North Fifth and 215.

Uh and if you can, if you have an opportunity to go by uh get some sense of what the villages of Thule Springs is going to look like with these different builders in there.

DR Horton started it out from uh the Aliante area and now uh KB is taking it over from that going further east.

Uh there's gonna be uh amazing amenities there.

Uh I think that's another compute uh community that's gonna raise the level of North Las Vegas as we we desired as a council and as a as a body of residents here.

So uh keep an eye over there.

I I think the price points on the homes are gonna be very reasonable for uh you know beginners, young people, uh, and I think the selection is gonna be uh great.

So I wanted to thank them all for uh for providing breakfast over there.

I forget what was it anyway.

What'd they give us?

Burritos.

I don't know what you yeah, really for listening.

But I I thank them for their breakfast.

It was very, it was very good.

Um so on June 18th, I I attended the sixth uh youth core graduation over at the municipal court um here in North Las Vegas, and I want to thank Judge Ketter and the entire youth court team for their dedication to this great program.

Uh I want to thank our partners, our volunteers, I mean everyone that helps uh ensure that this uh program is successful.

Um I know we're all very proud to be able to support this initiative because he really truly changes lives.

And he provides the, he gives the tools that these young kids, these youth need so that he can make better choices in life.

So I want to congratulate the seven graduates on uh completing this program.

And then on Juneteenth, um June 19th is Juneteenth.

It was a really fun uh pool party over at Walker Pool, Juneteenth Jubilee.

Um I was just uh looking at my calendar, and this Friday is the first Friday in a long time that my older kids didn't have any um commitments, and so I took all the kids to the pool.

Um, and so it was really, really great.

Um, this event was supported by council, but it was fully um planned by our parks and recs team, and our and they did a great job as always.

And we had uh lots of community members come, show up, they heard music, and some of them just like stopped by to see what was going on.

So we had a blast, and my kids made lots of new friends.

So thank you so much to our our parks and rights team, our pool team, and everyone that worked on this.

Um, and then on June 25th, I was invited to the ribbon cutting at Eli at Craig in the Khalida group.

It's pronounced Eli, it's not Ely Nevada.

It's it's spelled the same way, but I found out that that's how you say it.

Eli at Craig.

Um, this is an incredible new community.

They um they are behind eels on Craig.

You might have seen them.

They're the new luxury um apartment homes, and I was just blown away by their thoughtful designs.

Um, they have community spaces that are just amazing.

They have an outdoor lounge.

I had to make a list so I won't forget, uh, and uh they have a pool, a clubhouse, and just much much more.

I also learned that this allian leaving community is really their first one here in the city.

They haven't brought a product like this to North Las Vegas, and this is their first one, and so we uh just want to welcome them to our community.

They're located at 4475 North Scott Robinson Boulevard, North Las Vegas.

Um, and then uh tomorrow, Thursday, July 2nd at the Alexander Alexander Library, which is in Ward 2, from 3 to 4, we're gonna have a Starts and Stripes craft party.

So if you have children between the ages of six uh and 11, um stop on by this is a complete event, and I think it's gonna be really, really fun.

I don't um yeah, I just I have one child that fits the age range, so we might stop by.

Uh and then last but not least, uh just a reminder through the redevelopment agency, we have launched our residential curve appeal program to be able to assist businesses and uh rest and homes with 50% of the cost to be able to make improvements to their homes.

So if you live within the redevelopment area, make sure you take advantage of this program.

I'd like to announce some exciting events that are coming up starting this Saturday, July 4th, is the Sparkler Splash pool party at the Silver Mesa Rec Center pool, and that is from noon to three.

So if you're looking to cool off on uh the 4th of July, that is an awesome place to go.

Also, we have a great little group uh called the NRC Bike Club.

We've had uh a handful of uh bike get togethers um over the months.

We had one recently, and the next one is um on July 25th, Saturday at 9 a.m.

at Craig Ranch Park.

And uh you don't have to be uh uh official member of the club to come and ride bikes.

So if you want to get out, ride around the park, see the uh expansiveness of the amazing um things that we have going on at Craig Ranch Park, come out, uh join the NRC Bike Club and ride around with us.

It'll be a great time.

And then lastly, uh kids in the room, close your ears, uh, back to school.

I'm already talking about back to school parties, but uh this will be the eighth year in a row that I've had the privilege of partnering with uh County Commissioner Merrill Kirkpatrick for the ride to wave back to school party.

Uh that will be on August 1st from noon to three.

We'll have uh raffles, all types of uh fun and games and food.

Uh more to be announced on that, but put that on your calendars.

So uh last week uh the mayor and I attended the community engagement division event at um the court is it quarterly?

I believe it's quarterly.

It was at the Alexander Library, and it's an opportunity to showcase various divisions of our police department uh to the community to have just really robust conversations.

And this um month was uh the animal protection presentation, really a great presentation.

The work and effort that our group of animal protection uh officers put forth in our community to um keep animals safe and to reunite folks with their uh their furry family members is is pretty amazing.

And the education part of it for our community is also super vital.

So I just want to thank uh the police department and particularly the community engagement division and our animal protection services.

If you look at everyone around in the beautiful close to red maroonish t-shirts um for our parks and recreation month, and then we have a certificate of recognition for the exchange club of Las Vegas.

Hello, I'm Councilwoman Ruth Garcia Anderson, and it is my honor to represent Ward 2 here in the city of North Las Vegas.

Each month we shine a light on a local business organization that truly represents the heart of our community.

This month, I am proud to recognize Amber and Frost as a July 2026 Business of the Month.

Located at 6520 Low C Road, suite 11th, Ember and Frost is a woman-owned, veteran-owned and family-owned boutique fitness and wellness studio that opened on October 10th, 2025.

Founded by Stephanie Steegen.

This studio is the first boutique fitness and wellness studio of its kind in North Las Vegas.

Stephanie didn't choose this location by accident.

She chose it because our community deserved it.

Ember and Frost offers Legree Fitness, Giles, Yoga, Infraversana, Cold Punch Therapy, and Wellness Recovery Services, all designed to support both physical and mental well-being.

Classes are held in an intimate semi-private setting with small group sizes so every member receives real personal attention.

With 20 employees and a full event space that hosts everything from vision board workshops to corporate wellness events.

This studio has quickly become a gathering place for connection and community.

Ember and Frost is also deeply rooted in service.

As a veteran on business, a studio has built meaningful ties with the military community, welcoming active duty service members, veterans and military spouses through its doors.

What makes this recognition especially meaningful is that it came through recommendations from our CD team members who discover Ember and Frost fell in love with the experience and passed the word along.

That kind of organic neighbor to neighbor recommendation is exactly the spirit we want for our business of the month.

Whereas Parks and Recreation is an integral part of communities throughout this country, including the City of North Las Vegas, which operates 34 parks, three recreation centers, and four pools, offering free or low-cost programs for people of all ages, and whereas parks and recreation promotes health and wellness, improving the physical and mental health of people in our community, and the city of North Las Vegas offers programs at its recreation centers and pools designed to keep residents active and connected at every age.

Whereas Parks and Recreation encourages physical activity through trails, open spaces, and neighborhood parks, and the City of North Las Vegas is expanding access with five miles of new paved trail along the northern beltway and targeted improvements to establish parks throughout Project Sparkle.

And whereas parks and recreation programming and education activities such as out of school, time programming, youth sports, and environmental education are critical to childhood development.

And whereas parks and recreation drives economic prosperity, and demonstrated by the Craig Ranch Regional Park, which welcomed more than two million visitors last year and saw event revenue grow nearly 75% following the renovation of the amp, a seven-acre outdoor amphitheater capable of hosting up to 10,000 guests.

And whereas the U.S.

House of Representatives has designated July as Parks and Recreation Month, and the City of North Las Vegas recognizes the benefits derived from parks and recreation resources.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by this North Las Vegas City Council that the mayor and city council of North Las Vegas do hereby proclaim July is Parks and Recreation Month and encourage all residents to explore the parks, the trails, recreation centers, and programs available throughout our community.

Community.

Try to get us all together.

You know, that that's that's a task.

A lot of them are on vacation, but I'm gonna say hello to them anyway.

Now, I just want to say uh parks and recreation month.

Um it's a great opportunity to go out to a park to a rec center, to a pool, and have a memorable experience.

That's what we're about creating memorable experiences for the residents of City of North Las Vegas.

And with all the events that we have in our facilities, we don't see what goes on behind the scenes, what would all you do?

But when we are there, to me, I see perfection.

And I'm gonna have a good time no matter what it is where I go because I just like to have fun.

But thank you all so much for the work that you do that a lot of us do not see or that we take for granted because we know it takes a lot for you all to do to get things set up, taken down and make sure everything runs according to how schedule goes.

This afternoon we are honored to recognize the Exchange Club of Las Vegas.

They're a member of the National Exchange Club, the country's oldest service organization, which was founded in 1911.

The Exchange Club of Las Vegas is dedicated, is a dedicated service organization committed to strengthening communities.

They proudly hold the annual Field of Flags display, along with the Freedom Shrine, which represents the history of the founding of our country.

This year's Field of Flags holds special significance as it commemorates the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America, marking a historic milestone in our nation's journey of freedom, resilience, and unity.

So let's hear it for the Exchange Club of Las Vegas.

Yeah, why don't we uh have half of you come over here and we can uh you stand here in the middle and um let's let's uh balance it out.

If three or four of you want to come over to this side, that would be amazing.

And uh allow me if I may to read the uh words on the certificate.

Certificate of recognition presented to Exchange Club of Las Vegas on July 1st, 2026 in celebration of Independence Day, for your dedication to strengthening communities through programs that support youth, promote Americanism, serve local needs, and prevent child abuse.

We commend your field of flag, an American 250 tribute, a powerful display honoring veterans, active duty service members, first responders, and local heroes with dignity and gratitude, signed by Mayor Gwens Brown and the rest of the city council.

You know, I feel like you covered it all.

That was amazing research right there.

But I have to tell you that we are very proud of the work that we've been doing, and we don't do this alone, we do this along with community partners, um, and all of you as well.

Uh we are an organization that currently has 41 nonprofits, business owners, and community champions working together for the greater good of our community.

And when we presented the field of flags uh to our community, over 6,000 children came and 6,000 children left with little flags to take home.

And we are restoring the dignity of our community in our country, and that's what what it's all about.

We are diligently working to put unity back into community, and we invite you all to stop by our 28 West Owens location, volunteer with us, get involved.

You can donate your talent.

And I have to tell you that the best is yet to come.

We are going to be doing some amazing things for our community.

In March, you approved the residential curb appeal program, which offers a $25,000 grant that is reimbursable to property residential property owners within the redevelopment area.

I have the distinct honor today to present to you our first applicant.

I have Precious Petaway who is from North Las Vegas.

Her property located at eight rows circle.

She intends to do $50,000 of significant external improvements, which qualifies her for the maximum grant of $25,000.

And it is impressive what she plans on doing for her property.

Yeah, I've had a chance to meet Precious, so thank you for being here to the applicant.

Um there is a uh there's a um there's um a moment call it uh that the best way to say it there's uh a syndrome that comes out of from this.

Sometimes you have redevelopment, you have gentrification for those of you uh in the public who uh may not be familiar with it, it's real simple.

You get priced out of living where you uh where you're at.

Um, and it's really easy to get priced out, and before you know it, you lose your home, which is your uh your your largest uh um, you know, a person's uh home or an investment home is usually the largest investment personally, and it's really easy to become a casualty of gentrification.

This is an anti-gentrification measure.

It's uh designed to uh for people to be able to access to bring um value to your home.

If you can actually keep up and keep the value in your home relative to all the other properties around you, you can afford to stay in it.

And I'm very happy that you know that uh our team had uh uh um answer the call uh because uh again for years we try to figure out no, uh it's it's one thing to redevelopment to do redevelopment, it's another thing to make sure that people are able to afford and they're able to keep and they're able to uh move along with the city and not be priced out of their own uh homes.

And that's one thing that I will be uh very uh very proud of to say that we did give some foresight as to how we're gonna keep people in and relative in this in a new economy.

I in fact, I just did an interview with uh, I think it was Fox Five, uh just a little bit ago.

And so we are going to be once again, you know, promoting it now that we have a first applicant.

I think that's really gonna help us.

Um I did speak to Precious earlier, and she was saying that she felt like this was too good to be true.

And I think that's the sentiment in some of these areas.

They they don't they're not sure this is real because it's an amazing opportunity.

And so um, I'm actually really excited because I think we're gonna get more applications.

I'm I'm willing to go out there again and continue knocking on doors.

That's I think it worked.

I love knocking on doors, I really do, more than doing interviews and having a uh, you know, a camera in my face.

Um, but yeah, it's just a great program.

And so anyone that's listening here that hasn't heard about this program, just make sure you call.

Uh, if you live within the redevelopment area, you know, you have to make sure that you live in order in in the designated areas to be able to qualify.

Item 19, professional services agreement with Sandhill Consultant Group LLC for economic development and government affairs consulting services in the monthly amount of 11,000 plus pre-authorized expenses not to exceed 10,000 for a six-month term commencing on July 1, 2026, with two six-month renewal options to be exercised by city manager or her design and authorization for city manager or her design to exercise renewal options.

To manage primarily our BLM land initiatives within the city's disposal boundary.

This extension is really about momentum and a strategic imperative as recent headlines continually remind us our housing crisis crisis is fundamentally a land crisis.

Unlocking federal land is a top statewide priority, and the governor is aggressively pushing the BLM to release more acreage to relieve this pressure.

With Jared's specialized expertise, we can compress the rigid federal timelines and unlock land for critical housing and industrial expansion much faster than standard processes allow.

Further, unlocking this land accelerates the creation of revenue for the city.

Thank you, Michaela.

And I do um think this is very important, especially with the level of experience and expertise that he has shown us dealing with HUD and issues surrounding HUD with the massive number of changes that happened over the years, just being abreast of everything, and I think keeping up with the personnel is just a great gift within itself.

And so I think the work that he has done will continue to do will be very vital to the development in the future of North Las Vegas projects.

Umtimes uh the things that you do are kind of like uh bricks that you lay for the future.

Um the work that uh would be done um by uh Mr.

Luke, uh well, the work that he's done in the past has uh of course uh spectacularly brought us Nevada State University.

Um I just like to put that out there.

Um the work that we're doing now lays the foundation uh and gives an ability for future councils to be able to uh uh have assets available.

Um for anybody who uh likes martial arts, um, there's a tradition that that's still alive, you know, after so many uh uh after several centuries.

Uh in Japan, there's still a few uh bow makers, um, you know, like bow and arrow makers, uh, and they still do business in the traditional way.

Uh you'll see a bow maker, he'll be working on a blank and he putting it together.

This is a blank that wasn't it since it takes like uh 30 years to cure the wood for this bow.

This is a bow that he did not cure the wood for.

This is a bow that the wood was cured by his grandfather.

Uh and he in turn, he takes part of his time and he cures wood, he cures the wood blanks, not to be used by him or even his son, but anticipation for his grandson to use, which you know that gives, you know, uh it gives a lot of forethought, you know, into uh of course that culture.

But in this case, uh the work that we're doing right now and and putting you know uh Jared on this to actually uh to help secure this land in the future, that's gonna give our city the ability in the future, five, ten, twenty years down the line to use these uh to use uh a real resource.

And hey, you know what?

We can always make more money, we can always recruit more people.

That's very hard to do, right?

It's a very big big resource.

The one resource that we cannot create.

Well, the two ones are water and land.

And this uh definitely is one of them, you know.

That that's this is a resource that we can't just pull out of anywhere else.

Well, we we we have to secure it uh through the means because you only have so much available land.

And uh I I think uh I myself would be very, very uh remiss if I did not actually make the uh uh whenever you're when you're ready to call for a motion.

I'd like to be the one to uh actually make the motion uh on this.

Well, let's put him on the spot first and see if he'd like to say anything.

This is I talked with Terry and the team, and by the way, uh Director Sheridan and uh and and your newfound director of government affairs, Zach are very qualified to continue to do uh carry out the mission that in the vision that you guys are putting together.

Um I will say that uh I I look forward to working with him again in this capacity, but when I left the city, and I I left for obvious personal and family reasons, and it was time, but um one of my biggest regrets was that you know um arguing for so many years at the federal level, the state level, county, and at the local level uh for the land within the disposal boundary that we weren't able to accomplish something while I was still uh employed by the city.

And so I I look forward to assisting in that and in giving some of my talents and some of the relationships that I built over the last six years at the city and in another uh venues and and and other relationships that I have outside in the private sector, but to to try and bring this forward and um help the city take that vision that we work so hard on and that you guys have have really been stalwarts on to try and free up some of this dirt and turn dirt into real estate and and allow for housing and allow for the the continued growth of of North Las Vegas.

Item 24, ordinance number 3281, an ordinance of the City of North Las Vegas amending section 2.68.105 of the North Las Vegas Municipal Code relating to certification requirements for lateral or modified entry marshal candidates and providing for other matters properly related there too.

Let's move on to the city manager's report.

All right, so our North Las Vegas Fire Department recently welcomed five new firefighters as fire recruit academically academy class 261 officially graduated.

Each recruit had their badge pinned by a family member and was sworn in following 20 weeks of rigorous training.

The class includes two Air Force veterans who served as military firefighters and two legacy firefighters with family ties to the North Las Vegas and City of Las Vegas fire departments.

Congratulations to class 261 and welcome to the team.

Led by senior training specialist Alice Marshall, the Academy equips new supervisors and managers with core leadership competencies.

Graduates strengthened their skills in communication, delegation, conflict resolution, change management, change management, and empathetic leadership.

Congratulations, Cohort 5.

Please join me in congratulating land development and community services plans examiner Ricky Olson, our July 2026 team member of the month.

Ricky was recognized for his positive attitude, collaborative spirit, and commitment to going above and beyond.

He consistently builds trust across departments, supports co-workers, and brings creative solutions to every challenge.

Congratulations, Ricky, and thank you for representing the city so well.

So we got some grants strategic plan KPI highlights for May.

Our grants team is securing resources to build a stronger North Las Vegas.

There has been 3.7 million invested in affordable housing grants in the first half of 2026.

490 new affordable housing units coming to North Las Vegas by the end of 2027.

And we currently have an affordable housing application period open through December 17th.

So visit our website, City of North Las Vegas.com Strategic Plan to learn more about all the great things we have planned for through 2030.

And this is the event that Councilman Churchill thoroughly enjoyed the uh the breakfast.

Now that I remember what it was.

So we had the groundbreaking at Sandstone at Thule Springs.

They plan to build 1,500 single family homes, which are going to be, you know, relatively affordable for first time and move up buyers.

This community will also feature an on site park with playgrounds and walking trails.

Standstone is the largest Southern Nevada development in over a decade for KB.

And what they also told us is currently the largest development they have in the whole country right now.

And just for a frame of reference, we started going down memory lane, and some of the uh individuals there remembered the history of this property, and in fact, you know, 2600 acres of this property back in the day when it was acquired through a federal auction for a staggering 639 million in 2005, and then next year in 2006, it went into bankruptcy.

And fun fact, I was actually the debtor's counsel for that back in the day.

And um, as I was reminiscing with uh Robert Eastman, you know, and uh you know, we were talking about all the different challenges that this property had and the different challenges that the city was starting to have too.

Um he did remind me that even though you know I was really successful in navigating through this, there was one area that you know we didn't that you know, the debtors council was not victorious on in that was challenging the city because the city, through its municipal powers, has a lot of exemptions in the bankruptcy code and was able to retain its development agreement as like the sole surviving piece here.

And so I'm not sure you guys know too that from that 639 million when we ultimately got through the second bankruptcy.

This 2600 acres was sold for 21 million dollars.

And the only surviving portion of that was the DAs tied to this.

And then fast forward to 2014, you know, through some of you who were in leadership back then, you know, broke this up into park highlands and the villages at Thule Springs, and that's what enabled the city in part to start getting revenue through permit fees and billing fees and all that stuff.

And we were able to break ground in June 2017 when I came on.

So it's kind of an interesting twist of fate, I guess, that in a way I was kind of part of the history of this, and now here I am, and here we are, and it's uh it's just a really cool turnaround story for for all of us.

Um, so anyways, that's like I said, I I got a little sentimental here, and so this really represents a lot, and um, and I'm really looking forward to the new lands we will be able to unlock and the new stories we'll be able to tell, and the new revenue we'll be able to bring.

Apparently, we've gotten the no parking signs that are up there that were supposed to be up there, now they're up there.

Well, now they're Republic Services is taking out advantage and parking all their trucks up there after their cleaning up or while they're picking up, they just let them sit there for 15, 20 minutes, 30 minutes just sitting there.

Why?

I don't know.

I was hoping maybe we could get someone to take and check that out.

Um the last thing is 4th of July.

I want to make sure I just put it out there, and it's already been said by you guys.

Hello, City Council, uh, mayor, and everyone else.

Good to see you all.

So I came forward today.

Okay, uh, Michael Miyadovich, uh, 349 Glenn Riding.

Um, so today I came to talk about 5G Towers and data centers.

I believe they are becoming more of a nuisance and a threat to the public health than they should be.

Yet they are being placed in neighborhoods all around this country.

Uh 5G towers and data centers are being placed so close to neighborhoods.

And yet, this could lead to serious mental or bodily harm.

There are already patents in this country for technology for computers and phones and TVs that can actually scan your body and even examine your mind and even read it.

And they're actual uh their actual forces that are being used with, they're not just concepts or ideas, and that's why people should take it seriously.

I mean, uh phones don't even have 5G ships in them, so why do we even use them?

It doesn't seem to have any reason to them.

There are over 4,000 data centers in this country, and yet we could probably charge all AI technology clot or chat GPT or whatever you use on your phone or anything, with just like a couple of them, maybe like four or five, maybe even less than that, but we have well over four thousand.

These corporations and elites who are building them do not have the interests of the people, and rather it's a monopoly for them, and they are using it to take advantage of people all throughout this uh all throughout this country and around the world.

And it does not have approval from the public.

They are placed by these billionaires and these rich elite donors, and it is not right for people to deal with this.

Uh there's too much water being used in these data centers, and it's a threat to people everywhere, especially young babies and children.

So I hope the public is more aware of this and takes action.

But uh thank you.
