Hello everyone, I'm the mayor of the city of Passake, Hector Laura.

And as you can see, I have a lot of socks in this box.

I'm gonna try not to continue with the rise.

However, we have over 200 socks.

We're gonna sock it to homelessness.

Anyway, or perhaps defeat.

Homelessness.

Defeat.

I just want to share this because you see this box of socks.

I want to tell you where it came from.

Our students at our Passake Academy for Science and Engineering got together and decided to have a sock drive.

You want to know who the kids of Passake are, who the students of Passake are.

They're the kind of people that get together and have a sock drive to ensure that during the winter, during extreme temperatures, during all of the challenges that people face, that those who perhaps are dealing with insecurity in terms of will they have a roof over their head, will they have a meal the next day?

They not feel alone.

Even though many of them have expressed that they feel like they're unseen.

Our students decided to say we see you and we're here for you.

Come along with me as we're gonna receive uh this blessing from our young students in Passake.

What a blessing to be here.

Um we're uh we're excited to hear about your efforts and the work that you have done to make a difference in the lives of so many who are facing challenges in our city.

Can you tell me a little bit about this initiative and why we're here today?

Well, we're excited to present you with over 200 pairs of socks for the dignity house.

We were part of the as a whole to not only to Luxalters so but to also the other homerooms involved as well.

Here are the 200 pairs of socks.

This is amazing.

Listen, I want to thank you on behalf of the city of Passake.

I want to thank you on behalf of the human services department that work directly with our vulnerable populations within our communities and surrounding municipalities at the location of Dignity House.

This donation is gonna go a long way to make a big difference in their lives.

So many of the individuals that find themselves in Dignity House at our resource center for the homeless are there because of extenuating circumstances or challenges that they face in their lives, and they sometimes have shared that they feel that they are unseen.

They go through these challenges and no one cares.

And it's amazing that we can share with them that the students here at the uh Passake Academy for Science and Engineering, uh, your homeroom and the other homerooms that have come together, we can share with them that you see them and that you have moved together collectively to give them this donation.

So I want to thank you as together we are socking it to uh to poverty and homelessness.

That's probably gonna get edited out.

Who's your home room teaching?

How do you feel about this amazing initiative that your homeroom and other homerooms have come together uh to be a part of to help individuals out?

I'm super proud of all the hard work they've done.

Um they've really they went around and got to every single homeroom that was not as participant, not participating as much, and they really went forward and were like, hey, we need more socks, you guys aren't helping out, this is a great cause, and they really got it, and they're so so proud of them all of them.

Uh, would you guys like to tell us a little bit about how you feel about this initiative?

Well, we're extremely proud of our Science Academy students.

Uh, we're so impressed as to what they raise, and we already know that they are striving to even reach higher goals for next year.

We have to give a lot of credit to our high school key club for bringing this initiative to the Science Academy, including our middle school students, helping our key club organization continue to grow as a whole.

Echo those same sentiments.

All right, well, I'm so excited about this donation.

Again, um it's a remarkable and incredible testimony to the education of the children in our city, what's truly being instilled in them throughout this uh obvious uh process of developing their minds, but it's extremely important that we recognize they're also developing their hearts because this compassion empathy for others means a lot, it goes a long way, and again revisit that as we sock it to uh to all those challenges, or rather look to uh defeat.
