The Planning and Zoning Commission of Payson, Arizona, held a public meeting on November 4, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers. The meeting covered approval of minutes, discussion and action on a preliminary plat extension for Ponderosa Pines, and a presentation on commission roles and responsibilities.
Ponderosa Pines Preliminary Plat Extension (Case S22-004): Zoning Administrator Nicole Adams presented the first request to extend the preliminary plat for Ponderosa Pines, a 20-lot residential duplex subdivision at 609 S Ponderosa Street. She explained that preliminary plat approval is valid for 12 months, with up to two six-month extensions allowed. The original plat was approved on November 6, 2023. The applicant submitted final plat and civil improvement plans within the last 30 days, which are under review by multiple departments. The delay was attributed to significant topography and drainage concerns. The commission discussed the subdivision approval process, including the step from preliminary plat to final plat and council approval. A motion was made and seconded to approve the six-month extension. The vote was 4-0 in favor.
Requests for Future Agenda Items: Nicole Adams informed the commission that a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for Discount Tire would be on the December agenda.
