We have no public hearing.

Unassigned speaker

5:00

We have no report from Mayor Washtonate, no proclamations.

Speaker 1

5:02

And that leads us to the city manager's report.

Speaker 5

5:11

Thank you, Council President.

5:13

So have just uh we've been busy uh coming up with the all the collecting all the information for the end of the year urine review basically, which is a report that we provide every year.

5:29

And so that's really been on my mind a lot.

5:33

And I want to tease just one thing, and then we're gonna have some celebrations.

5:37

So one thing I want to tease is we have been involved with traffic intersection and light upgrades for two years now.

5:48

And this is all because this is driven by the citizen priorities that both years that we've conducted the citizen surveys.

5:58

They have told us that it's either their number one or number two, uh concern issue improvement to please work on the traffic.

6:09

So in our city.

6:11

So not only obviously that also impacts safety.

6:15

So we have uh had two two phases of streets where we installed um this different type of technology.

6:27

I don't want to give it all away because it's going to be all previewed in the Pelham Pathway uh magazine that's gonna come out in the next two weeks.

6:35

But we're we're looking at two improvements.

6:39

One is that we're that people are arriving on green more and more versus arriving on a red light.

6:48

And the second is your wait times.

6:51

Now it takes, so when you get this technology and you begin to look at it, it takes some time to make adjustments.

6:59

So you are it's it's gonna it has an AI component to it and it's gonna be able to start reading these things.

7:06

So it's not like when you get it three months later, you're immediately seeing huge benefits, but you do over time, it's it's kind of like it begins to read what our patterns are the time of day, the time of week, in the evening.

Unassigned speaker

7:24

You

Speaker 5

7:24

know, it wonders why certain things are going on that cause that, which you can you know, feed information into it.

7:30

So one of the things we've seen, one of our biggest problem intersections is uh 119 and Interstate 65, and then that kind of leads to a lot behind it.

7:43

So we have seen as in September 2024, the average wait time at the north ramp was 26 seconds, and that has been reduced to 16 seconds, so 10 10 seconds less, and then in the southbound from 21 seconds to 15 seconds, and then we've seen in both um both north and south, an average increase in arriving on greens, it's been a 10% increase.

8:15

So we'll continue as we get more data and we continue to monitor that's only going to improve.

8:21

And then obviously that has consequences as you go further down 11.

8:27

Another

Unassigned speaker

8:29

uh

Speaker 5

8:30

major improvement that we saw was US 31 and Chandelar Drive.

8:35

So that was installed in just May of 2025.
