The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM with roll call and the Pledge of Allegiance. A proclamation recognized Plainfield as a Route 66 Centennial Municipality. Trustee comments included praise for the Public Works open house, an update on cruise night waste management (trash levels returned to normal after an initial spike), and a call to address teen takeover events. Public comment featured support for the police department, multiple Grand Park residents opposing the Core5 warehouse project, and testimony from the School District 308 superintendent in support of the development. The business meeting covered consent items, a Core5 annexation and rezoning request, a Route 59 annexation proposal, holiday decorations, Parknav parking software, and a pavement marking contract.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands. Good evening, everyone. We have some presidential comments here. Um we have a proclamation. Um we have uh representative of the Heritage Corridor here, and the proclamation is recognized in the village of Plainfield as a Route Sixty-six Centennial municipality. For those who don't you know, this is the centennial year of Route 6, the historic road from Chicago down to Santa Monica, California. And uh it intersects with Route Thirty only in Plainfield along Route 59, which makes it somewhat unique journey through Plainfield here. And uh Route Thirty was the Lincoln Highway, which was uh linked up the east and west coasts when the first coast to coast highways, I think it was in fact the first. So whereas U.S. Route sixty six established on November eleventh, nineteen twenty-six is one of America's most iconic highways spanning more than two thousand four hundred miles from Chicago, Illinois to Santa Monica, California, and earning the title of the main street of America. Whereas as a nation prepares to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of Route 66 in two thousand twenty-six, communities throughout Illinois are recognizing the highway's extraordinary contribution to American history, transportation, tourism, commerce, and culture. Whereas the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway and Heritage Corridor destinations have partnered to recognize communities along Illinois Route 66 through designation as a Route 66 Centennial Municipality. And we have someone representing the Heritage Corridor, I believe, tonight who would say a few words. You could you please introduce yourself, uh spell your last name if it's harder than Smith. Um it is my honor uh that with the Heritage Corridor destinations, which is the Bureau that covers the first hundred miles of Route 66 directly under the Illinois Office of Tourism, along with the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway, the official Illinois Route 66 logo for the centennial. We have this road sign. Oh, it's upside down. Sorry, thank you. Should have looked at it before I actually called it up. And then, of course, this flag.
