Good evening, Madam Mayor, Councilmen and Women.

I just I'm grateful for to be here to pray for you all.

Um, I just want to read a couple of scriptures to you before I pray, if that's okay.

2:10

I'm reading from Psalms one nineteen, one through eight, and it says, Joyful are people of integrity who follow the instructions of the Lord.

2:19

Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts.

2:23

They do not compromise with evil, and they walk only in his path.

2:28

You have charged us to keep your commandments carefully.

2:31

Oh, that my actions will consistently reflect your decrees.

2:36

Then I will not be ashamed when I compare my life with your commands.

2:40

As I learn your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should.

2:45

I will obey your decree.

2:47

Please don't give up on me.

2:49

Let us pray.

2:51

Father, in the name of Jesus, we just thank you, Lord God, for you said every word of you proves true.

2:56

And Lord God, we just thank you for this governing body.

2:59

We thank you for those that you have set an authority to help um help the community and help the people of this city.

3:06

Lord God, I ask that you continue to strengthen them and encourage them.

3:10

I thank you, Lord God, that even as you have given us this uh body of authority, Lord God, I thank you, Father God, that they rule well.

3:18

I thank you, Lord God, that you help them to be courageous in their decisions.

3:22

I thank you, Lord God, that you continue to bless them to be unified and as a team of one.

3:28

Lord, I pray for the authority of before us, and I pray for those that are in staff, and I pray for all those in this room tonight.

3:34

And Lord God, I thank you, Lord, that you said, according to First Corinthians 15 58, be steadfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, that our labor that we decree and declare over this body will not be in vain.

3:49

And Father God, even as you keep your promises, I ask that you keep each and every one of us, keep our families, keep us safe in Jesus' name.

3:57

4:54

Good evening.

4:55

Poolers growing faster than our schools can keep up.

5:00

While our population booms, many families are looking for more than just a seat.

5:07

They're looking for a future.

5:09

I am here to introduce Nexus Academy, a tuition-free public sixth through eighth grade charter school that is maximizing achievement and preparing for what's next.

5:28

We aren't a traditional learning environment.

5:32

We're science, technology, readingslash writing, engineering art, maths called stream.

5:40

It is an integration of these models.

5:43

Unlike STEM approaches, we are intending to add R reading and art as a foundational component of delivery.

5:57

Not just aesthetic choices, by embedding the R and art directly into this proposed charter school called Stream, also framework.

6:18

We adopt the amplified science curriculum, which is designed to meet the Georgia standards of excellence and uses a phenomenal base unit in which students take on real world professional roles.

6:44

A general English class in Nexus integrates literacy across all subjects.

6:55

Reading isn't a separate class, it's the operating system for every stream project.

7:04

Students don't just read textbooks, they read real world documentation.

7:11

Students read grades and charts, graphs and charts, and that's the math.

7:19

And most write a claim evidence reasoning paragraph to explain that mathematical trend that they're seeing.

7:30

This ensures that they can communicate quantitative results to non-technical audience.

No action was taken.

Public Comments

  • Uma Nagaraj of 107 Barrington Road, Pooler, alleged that residents face constant threats for speaking out, including a cease-and-desist served after a This is Sparta meme, and claimed that city meetings with HOAs involved discussion of private resident information. City Attorney Craig Call responded that public comment should address city business, that the city is not involved in private citizens' or homeowners' association matters, and that the city cannot enforce HOA rules. Nagaraj said she would pursue the matter in court.
  • Carol Williams compared Pooler unfavorably with Alpharetta, Roswell, and Woodstock, arguing that taxes are high while the city gives nothing back to residents, children, and taxpayers. She criticized the city's development patterns and urged the city to bring tax dollars back to residents to retain property values.
  • Glenn Smith expressed concern about light commercial zoning adjacent to residential properties, including property across Rogers from State Farm, and asked why commercial uses were allowed next to housing. He said he felt pushed off his property and asked about his alternatives. Mayor Williams referred him to the Planning and Zoning Director, Ms. Johnson, for an explanation of the historical zoning process.
