34:02

All those in favor, please say aye.

34:04

Okay, thank you all.

34:05

Members of the board, are there any items on today's agenda that you would like to discuss in section A?

34:11

Madam Chair.

34:12

Yes.

34:13

I just curious.

34:14

Um, item number 21.

34:15

I know this is not being paid for by the city.

34:18

Seems like it's a grant, but we opened toye.

34:24

Um, can you just explain what number 21 is?

34:28

Yeah, this week you have things a thing's a little bit bigger.

34:31

I'm sorry, can you come up to the table and state your name and title for the reference?

34:36

Thank you.

34:40

Uh the sustainability item on the list today is for top of a supplier for Providence Union to get electricity, which is our community choice aggregation program.

34:51

Uh, it's an electricity supply program or provided that province residents can take advantage of and businesses.

35:00

And Providence and six other municipalities all participate in the same kind of aggregation program under their same under a different name in each town, different brand in each town.

35:12

But every so often we have to go back up a bid for a supplier to make sure that you know we want to continue on with the same flyer.

35:20

Maybe there's a better option on the market.

35:23

And so we're in we're about halfway through to three bits of the way through all our five-year contract term with the current supplier.

35:31

And that supplier uh starting in the purchases of electricity that they're going to be making for the residents and customers of Province will start to impact terms beyond their their contract.

35:47

So even though it's a couple years out, we need to um award a supplier now so that they can start buying electricity for us in 2020.

35:57

Um the reason that we don't uh manage this RRP through the sustainability department is because we are one of seven towns that are doing this with the programs in good energy that manages the procurement process for us uh and all the other towns.

36:14

So they do a competitive process.

36:16

Uh they got two bidders, um they analyze the you know uh bids and provide a kind of an executive summary of them back to all the towns who they gathered on the uh onto a uh virtual meetings uh and all the towns agree that our existing supplier next to our energy remains the best option.

36:35

Um so now at this point we're uh each town goes to their own kind of through their own kind of procurement uh and agreement uh process, which is what we're doing now.

36:45

So uh we're requesting British to enter into an agreement with next era or continue our agreement with next era for the next five-year rate term to the project.

36:56

Yeah, of course.

36:56

Uh you mentioned an impact.

36:57

Do you just speak to like what the benefit of reference of the problem presents are?

37:01

Sure.

37:02

So the the purpose of the program is uh to provide an alternative and competitive supply program to what the utility offers.

37:11

So if you aren't in our program, you're kind of defaulted into Rhode Island Energies uh program.

37:17

Uh so we try to provide a lower rate.

37:19

We've been able to do that for the first uh five or six rate terms um compared to the utilities electricity rate, uh so slightly cheaper for our residents typically, but we're also adding in a little bit more renewable energy into our supply, um, which is helping us transition to a cleaner great back within otherwise.

37:38

Okay, I just thought it was fascinated.

37:42

Sure.

37:43

Right.

37:44

Any other questions?

37:45

No.

37:46

All right, excellent.

37:48

Um, so hearing no additional questions, I'd like to entertain a motion to continue item number one and approve items number two through 22 in section A on a roll call vote.

37:59

No mote.

38:00

Uh motion made by Director Delgado, second by Chief De Pina.

38:03

All those in favor, please say aye.

38:05

The ayes have it.

38:06

Madam Clerk, will you please call the roll?
