evening everyone thanks for joining us this is the committee on city property it is 5 32 p.m the date is wednesday third 2026 thank you all for joining us madam third please call the role chairman gunsholes present vice chair and rebound is absent councilman espinal present councilwoman graves yeah and councilwoman peterson present four present one absent we have a forum so I'd like to acknowledge everyone that's here tonight thank you for city for being here and one of our clerks for all the e do uh we've got the director of real estate who's gonna be joining us uh this evening and our uh policy analyst branded thank you someone for being here um and we'll call it number one and two item number one resolution transferring 64 Garfield Avenue to the Providence Redevelopment Agency Great so uh thank you for joining us director of real estate uh love to hear a little bit more about this and then we'll have questions drawing thank you chairman oh yes and if we swear you may have dependent as a testimony they'd want to give the truth the whole truth and not about the tool I do it's Nick Chip tell director thank you so much thank you thank you Mr. Chairman and members and committee for giving this meeting and having me tonight uh we have three items to cover first one is the transfer of 64 Garfield Street which is a 64 hundred and fifty square foot uh city owned lot um and the intention is to put it up there for portable housing in accordance with the terms and conditions uh this committee has laid up so uh excuse us what is this uh one is counselor peterson's the other is great so thank you it's this is this is the uh great question for committee members I have uh some information if you want it the property cards and uh so we'll make a motion to answer that should you make a motion to enter that it's already public we can just it'll be on the floor if you don't have to quite a lot and uh do apologize we did note that counselor Anna Park is here with us and he's joining us counselor only questions from the committee members is in my area yeah so it sounds like uh folks for me eighty percent of an on the world that's what this counselor is requested that this is reserved for portable housing so we'll put it up as such to commit development partners fantastic great any questions from the committee members seeing that there's no further questions we have a motion to approve second motion made by counselor gray second by councillor espina all those in favor all those opposed and ayes have it number two item number two resolution transferring one twenty seven sunbury street to the providence redevelopment agency director uh chairman I have property cards for this one as well as we anyone uh thank you thank you so good as well Um look at that we'll suppose 35. My work, yeah. No, I have no um no opposition to this. Um the again we're also requested at least one that it be considered for affordable housing. Yeah, so um I already spoke with uh the team on how we're gonna do that. We're gonna make uh a preference for the public listing and uh yeah, which would make that part of suscitation. So yeah, we it's uh magazine um how to read the street um rewards and there, but it is um we have a few multi-family in the area, so it will be more uh issuing for one more hands in the meeting I support the additional questions. There's no further questions to approve this item. So we buy council case second by counselor grades. Those in favor, those opposed the airs have it, item number three item number three resolution authorizing the acquisition of two fifty-two gestrum street by the city. Um this is one second. Can we just put the exhibit in the test? Yes, so we've got actually we've got two things that we need to move to the record. We've got exhibit number one, and there's testimony from the Robert F. Kennedy parent teacher organization. So uh can I have my motion to enter into the record exhibit number one and also testimony from the property attending ETO. So by council Pierce, second seconded by majority of the director and all those in favor, aye, all those opposed, the ayes have it. Thank you, Chairman. Um, so the city is using uh what island property education funds to acquire this uh at a market sale is the appraised value that the seller uh is honoring, and the intention is to uh incorporate this into the Robert F. Kennedy school uh to assist with a circulation issue with with students uh and pick up uh traffic. I understand that that counselor is also supportive of this council and should like to speak on this. Yeah, sure. Um yeah, so uh being that RFK is going to be um the footing of the the project in and of itself of Robert, the footprint is very small, and so understanding that we are going up in size and also the amount of students. Um I think the owners of the property is the only house on that particular side of the street. Um and the um the idea was or her idea with understanding that this would um substantially change her quality of life as well. Um she the family has decided to move elsewhere, and while I'm really really excited to see that family go there, really wonderful family that has contributed a lot to the neighborhood. Um we do understand that this is super beneficial to um Robert F. Kennedy and the footprint expanding and being able to help us with some of those traffic patterns and concerns that um so many neighbors have raised as the development or the project started to develop over at Kennedy. So we appreciate we appreciate the sacrifice from the neighbor um and fully support the opportunity for RFK to have a little bit more of its um the change of the landscape be supported in this in this time. Um do you know so the the owner of the property also had um a lot that was in front, which is a commercial entity. Do you know if I wasn't sure if this was included in that, or if there is something separate that for that? It's not, and I do know that uh that's the husband of the yeah of the owner um of Jasper Street. Uh there could be a funding issue there, but it's just they want to settle business in addition to the footprint, so okay. That wasn't something we uh we ended up considering. Thank you.
