On Monday, April 14, 2025, the Pueblo City Council convened at 7:00 PM in City Hall Chambers. The meeting included special recognitions, public forum, council commentary, a consent agenda, regular agenda resolutions, final ordinance presentations, a quasi-judicial proceeding, and three ethics complaints. Key actions included approval of a resolution encouraging a "yes" vote on Ballot Item 2A (to terminate the franchise agreement with Black Hills Energy) by a 4–2 vote, approval of a $464,847.70 transfer to fund homeless shelter operations (6–0), and dismissal of three ethics complaints.
Reporting in progress. Well, it's another glorious day in Pueblo, Colorado, and I call to order the regular City Council meeting. Today is Monday, April 14th, 2025. So we're going to have a good crowd tonight. Madam Clerk called the order. I mean, the uh we need the invocation. I got myself all jacked up. Pastor Ken Wood of the Avenue Church will lead us in the invocation. If you choose to stand with us while we have the invocation, then we'll have the Pledge of Allegiance. Thank you. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you for the privilege and the right in our great country to gather together to govern ourselves to uh support these who we've elected to lead our city. And God, we just come to you tonight asking for wisdom and discernment as the the questions before them uh are important and waiting. So we pray that they would uh have ears to hear all of the information and to make the very best decisions for everyone in our community. God, we especially want to ask and uh uh and thank you for the protection that you give to our local law enforcement. We we pray for the continued healing of our officers recently injured in the line of duty, and we pray that you would go uh with them as they go out every day, patrolling the streets, keeping us safe, enforcing just and right laws. And God, we want to lift up all of our first responders, our fire department, uh, our EMTs, and God, uh, we thank you for each one who steps up to the role of public servant, and God, we just pray that we would come alongside them and support them in the best way we can as a community. This is a certificate of recognition presented to Pueblo Transit Operator Paul Trujillo in recognition of your service to the City of Pueblo and its citizens, dated April 14th, 2025. With great admiration, the mayor and city council of the city of Pueblo, Colorado, hereby officially acknowledge and commend your quick thinking and ability to maintain calm while acting under pressure to help put out a residential fire. As a transit operator, you are vital for a healthy, sustainable, and equitable society, and your dedication to your profession improves our community every day. Your outstanding efforts on behalf of the city of Pueblo and your personal contributions at a time when our citizenry needed them most are hereby acknowledged, and you are commended for your outstanding performance.
