Uh appreciate the uh special meeting uh here tonight to kind of keep the pros plan rolling.

Uh really tonight's intention is to talk through some of our public engagement plan, uh, really talk through the nuts and bolts of what that public engagement plan looks like, what we want to achieve, how we want to achieve it, and get some preliminary feedback tonight.

And I think our intention is to take any feedback that we get in our conversation tonight, uh, turn around, put together that draft plan, hand that off to Cody, uh get an internal pass through, and then back to you guys at our next uh meeting for final buy-off on that public engagement plan.

Uh really kind of set the baseline of expectations of how, when, and who uh we want to engage throughout this process.

Uh, in addition to that, uh, want to discuss uh we gave you guys all of the goals and policies last time, uh decent chunk of information in there.

Uh with that being said, uh I would like to go through the engagement plan, kind of key goals, all that information up front, and then maybe open up the floor for some conversation, uh, just set kind of the expectation of what this document actually looks like and the contents of that, and then maybe we'll switch over to the uh goals and policies conversation afterwards, if that sounds good.

So in relation to our public engagement plan, this is typically a document that we put together uh at the start of any policy update, whether that's a comprehensive plan, a park recreation open space plan, shoreline master plan, any major policy document that has uh really a long shelf life, so to speak, a document that's intended to live uh for 10 years, even if it's interim updates, but this engagement plan really sets the expectation up front of how the public can be involved throughout this process.

Uh, some of the key goals uh include uh offering engaging opportunities for residents to uh participate in the process, not only on the front end of the process once we kick off, but throughout the update cycle.

Um, establishing our future uh park recreation open space priorities uh throughout that process, uh providing objective information to the public uh that we're uh receiving and vetting through throughout this pros update process, uh things like levels of service, uh park acreage, facilities, all that good stuff.

Uh that's necessary information for the public to have to maybe help uh identify.

Hey, if there is a priority area, maybe the city's already doing uh better than they had anticipated with some objective information, or vice versa.

Maybe there's a gap that gets identified that the public hadn't been aware of previously.

Uh we want to provide uh opportunities uh again for review throughout the process uh and do so through a variety of methods, uh, whether that's social media, um, the email list, the city has a really good listserv uh for residents and people that are engaged, um, online posting and site posting, take advantage of existing events that the city already does, get the word out there.
