Riverton Historic Preservation Commission Meeting - December 5, 2024
The Riverton Historic Preservation Commission met on December 5, 2024 at 6:05 PM in the Riverton City Hall Council Chambers. Chair Ben Behrmann welcomed new member Sheri Withers. The meeting adjourned at 6:32 PM. All actions were unanimous.

Discussion Items
- Oral History Project: Ben Behrmann reported that members Brooke Glaittli and Jeff Trimble were absent but have two in-person interviews tentatively scheduled after the holidays. They are also developing a website to house the interviews and will later focus on enabling the public to conduct interviews independently.
- Historic Homes Project: Alex Johnson reported that the Catron family received a National Register plaque during a City Council meeting. He is working on code changes, including lowering the qualifying age from 75 years to 50 years and replacing a certificate with a smaller plaque for homes on the Riverton registry. A map of home construction years using GIS is also planned. Business cards and a group email (hpc@rivertonutah.gov) have been established. A meeting with City Attorney Ryan Carter and the Communications Department is needed to finalize the flyer and code amendments. Kim Rindlisbach identified three qualifying homes but awaits proper procedures before approaching homeowners.
- Park History Project: Ben Behrmann is writing short narratives for each city park. The Parks Department is replacing park signs with space for historical information. He aims to complete the narratives within the next few weeks before signs are ordered by year’s end.

Or I haven't sent it to um Sherry yet, but we need to finish the open and public meetings training. Yes. I did get Kim's, but he's the only one that has gotten it to me. So I'm under, should I send out the email again to everybody? Include Sherry. Yeah, that's fine. Okay. Um. Okay. And I'll I'll try to follow up with everyone this month to make sure it gets done before next meeting. Okay. Yeah. It's been a little bit more bad time of year. Yeah. Yeah, November in the first half of December is the busiest time at my work in the world. Oh it is. Oh yeah. Well there's I mean we probably have 20 public concerts or events every day. Oh. Throughout the campus. We have uh people flying in for meetings all over the world. We have department parties and you know, and and they they lots of different huge public events like the devotional Christmas concerts, things like that. Yeah, the lights bring bigger crowds. Yeah.
