The Riverton City Council met on October 7, 2025, beginning with a Work Session at 6:01 PM and a Regular Council Meeting at 7:00 PM. Key discussions included a review of the city's speed bump ordinance, the acquisition of a parcel of land from UDOT (known as the "triangle piece"), and presentations from Unified Fire Authority (UFA) on special enforcement services and the Riverton Choice Awards for Excellence in Education. The Council approved the consent agenda unanimously and adjourned at 7:15 PM.

Okay. And Councilmember Peruci's with us. I heard his voice earlier, so he's good. Are we good to go, Jamie? Okay. All right, everybody. Well, we'll go ahead and call our meeting to order. All of our elected officials present, um, with the exception of council member Perucci, who's joining us telephonically. Um first on the on the agenda for A UFA special enforcement presentation. Mayor and council, I just want to say thank you so much for letting me present tonight. I have a bit of a show and tell for all of you. Um thing that I want to focus on is your liaison is ensuring that you understand of the service that you get at the local level. And a priority for me is to make sure I go through the budget and target the different divisions that support what happens within our community here in Riverton. So with that intent, um, I want to show uh the citizens and the city council and mayor exactly what special enforcement does. So special enforcement covers all the RSN investigations. Many times we see fires in the community. What happens when the fire is out? We see an effective systematic arson investigation. So that is what Chief Larson and Special Enforcement do, and you'll be able to meet many of the members out there setting up in the parking lot with the other items. So along with the RSIN investigations, they run a canine component of that. Which is when we have a canine component of that, they're in there to smell for accelerants. So by chance, if there was an accelerant used, maybe gasoline or diesel fuel or something like that within the fire, the dogs can actually detect that, and you'll be able to see those outside too. So along with the RSN responses, we have the bomb and explosive responses. Anytime there's a bomb incident or something akin to that, the bomb squad, the Unified Fire Authority Bomb Squad led by Chief Larson is gonna respond to that. Fully trained component, fully trained personnel and all the equipment to mitigate and handle those with an emphasis on community protection and interagency cooperation. I'll just highlight that while I'm focused on that. Great interaction, great c collaboration with Ribberton Police Department. So if we had an emergency within the community here in Riverton, it would be a unified approach as far as a unified command and ensuring that all all the safety contingencies are accounted for as they work through that bomb or explosive response. Another thing that special enforcement does they support South Valley SWAT through the paramedic program. So every time the SWAT team is deployed, they have unified fire authority SWAT paramedics integrated with that team. Primarily focused on ensuring that the officers have that safety contingency should things go not exactly right or not exactly perfect, but to include getting that paramedic care in those hot zones in those exigent circumstances to support those. So those are some of the uh the highlights again. Um the way that we connect to Riverton Police Department and the Unified Fire Authority operations crews with with this crew is something I want you to think about and look at when we're out there looking at the resources that we brought for for show and tell out here on the south side of the structure.
