The Ann Land and Bertha Henschel Memorial Fund Commission met virtually via Zoom on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at 4:08 PM. The meeting was called to order by the Chair, with a roll call confirming the presence of Commissioners Leary, Korbs, MacIntosh, Smith, Yantis, and Zomanudin. - Semi-Annual Reports (January – June 2021): Staff presented informational reports. Commissioner MacIntosh encouraged grantees to include more detail about their accomplishments in future reports. Staff noted that one grantee, Next Move Homeless, reported a discrepancy in total receipts on page 15 and corrected it after July 28; the full grant amount will be detailed in the next reporting period.
- Site Visit Reports 2021: Commissioners shared mixed experiences with in-person and virtual site visits. The reports were filed as informational.
- Commission Comments:
- Recruitment for two open commission positions is ongoing; only one application has been received, and Commissioner Korbs noted difficulty finding candidates with available time.
- The assigned city attorney has changed due to the retirement of Jose Rose; Michael Sparks now oversees the commission. Staff is investigating whether City Council approval is needed for commission rule changes and expects resolution within one to two months.
- All remaining 2021 commission meetings will be held virtually via Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic and city clerk office transitions.

Good afternoon, everyone. I'm so sorry that I was late in uh helping you create a quorum. I got stuck on another Zoom call, um, which seems to be my life these days. So um it is now 408, and the Ann Land and Bertha Henschel Memorial Fund Commission meeting is called to order. Um will the clerk please call the roll. Commissioner Leary. Commissioner Corps here, Commissioner Macintosh. Here Commissioner Smith. Sir. Commissioner Yantis is absolute Commissioner Zomanudin. Thank you. Um this meeting is being recorded um by audio and video, and if anyone would like to speak on an item, we ask that you raise your hand to provide comment when the public comment speaking period for your desired item is confirmed. You can raise your hand using the raise hand button on Zoom, or if calling in via telephone, dialing star nine. So we will move on to the um consent calendar. The item on the consent calendar is approval of the and land and birth commission meeting minutes. Um, and the recommendation from staff is to approve a motion uh to pass a motion approving the minutes. Um, do we have any members of the public who would like to speak on this item? Item any commissioners with comments on this item. I'd like to make a motion that we approve. We have one minor correction, and that is to correct the spelling of my first name at the end. I gotta just throw out an apology. I haven't been able to mine uh just yet. I just reached out to uh the the um the list that I have, but it's been kind of a hectic. I will get that done with the next week. Yes, uh Commissioner. That was for item three, not item two. Oh thank you. So item two. Um, I just I don't know if there's anybody on the line. Um did these reports, but if they are, um I would uh request that they add maybe a sentence their semi-annual reports because on my site visits I saw such great work, um, but that wasn't necessarily captured in their semi-annual report. I would ask is that the folks, you know, feel free to toot your horn because what you're doing is amazing, and we'd like to be able to read about all right. Any further discussion on item number two?
