I'm here first to talk about the North Natomas Library Tech Art Public Art Project, which is actually part of the funding is actually uh coming also from our North Natomas Aquatic Center, uh, which uh has some exciting public art plan for the future as well.

Um as I may remind you, some months ago, we announced that we would do a call for this technology focused piece.

The idea for the call came out of a series of discussions with Councilmember Ashby and members of the library and of the community.

Uh, they had expressed uh a sincere interest in uh commissioning a piece of artwork at the library that had a technology focus.

And uh so we did a public call uh for almost two months uh to solicit uh uh uh artists uh submissions, and then we um uh comprised a uh conducted a panel uh here at the city, and uh out of that panel, uh the panel selected uh Vincent Michael Damyanovich.

Um this just gives you a sense of uh like what I was talking about, it would be an interior wall hanging or freestanding piece and the location there at um the North Nathomas public library.

Uh we would actually be uh Mr.

Damianovich is prepared to make his presentation uh to the stakeholders uh later this week.

Uh so he's already been working very diligently on his designs, and um and then he would fabricate the artwork and install the work by June 2020, somewhat uh uh prior to the North Nathomas uh aquatic center complex, but also set to coincide with the beginning of summer and uh reading opportunities at the library.

Um that is uh image of the location, gives you a sense of where that lobby area is and then what that front entrance area looks like, and then um because we are not we're not presenting the design today.

Damiana Domyanovich has just been selected to uh as the artist, uh, but I'd show you a couple examples of his past work.

Um this was a kind of conceptual piece where he's starting to look at light and uh how it refracts.

Uh this is another piece.

This has also an animation, so he's starting to look at developing how pieces might animate themselves, another kind of animated piece, and then that allowed him through one of our creative economy grants, he is a creative economy uh grantee recipient to develop this piece.

So this was something that uh both the council member and library were particularly interested in, and even with that call with a number of other artists, they still felt uh that this piece was uh really exciting, and uh they wanted um Mr.

Domyanovich to design another piece, and as you can see here, his interactive kind of component of this, and the idea being that it would be sensory interactive in the area.
