Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy Commission Special Meeting - February 1, 2021
The Sacramento Arts, Culture, and Creative Economy (ACCE) Commission held a special meeting on February 1, 2021, at 2:00 PM. - Item 6 – Director’s Report: Megan Van Voorhis highlighted the Healthy Heart and Mind Collaborative (serving up to 1,400 students in 26 schools with arts intervention and mental health services), the Artists in Residence program (pivoting during COVID-19), and placemaking efforts. She also noted upcoming opportunities in animation and film.
- Item 7 – Chairperson’s Report: Chair Steve Winlock outlined the commission's advocacy role, including plans for commissioners to meet with their council members in March to discuss funding needs (estimated $2–3 million) and share data on CARES-funded grants. He emphasized that commissioners are the primary advocates for the arts.

Cecily Hastings. Cruz Naranjo. Here. Andrea Lapore. Here. Isela Perez. Here. Donnie Blumenstock. Here. Dr. Winlock. Here. Priscilla Enriquez. Here. Dr. Raimi. We have a quorum. Thank you, Madeline. And before we move into the consent calendar, I would like to have each of our commissioners introduce themselves because we have a couple of new commissioners that are here. And if you would share your background in the area that you're representing. And if there's any area of focus that you would that you would like to be working on in the areas it relates to the arts, culture, and creative economy. So any thoughts, any around our work around that. And just no more than a minute or two, if you would, please. If you could great. And Madeline, would you do it by roll call, please? Okay. We'll start off with District One, Rick Gott. Hello, I'm Rick Gott, and uh I proudly represent District One, which is the Nathomas area. I teach at Natomas Charter School, Performing and Fine Arts Academy. I'm in my 23rd year there consecutively. And uh I've been an actor, a writer, a producer, and uh so many other things uh throughout my career, but I've spent almost 40 years of that career in Sacramento with a few breaks to New York and LA. Um my main focus of concentration um has always been in the film and television production aspect. Thank you, Rick. Next would be um Mr. Cruz Naranjo, District Four. Okay. Uh my name is Cruz Naranjo. I've been in native Sacramentan since day one. I've um I've been a member of a local theater. I'm not an actor by trade. Primarily, I've been a proponent and constant uh patron of the arts. I am my primary focus in this endeavor is for greater inclusion and representation of local arts and local artists.
