Hello, I'm Michelle Gigante with the Sacramento Police Department, and I thought I'd take a few moments to tell you a little bit about myself before I start so you know why I'm standing here in front of you.

I have 20 years of experience as a law enforcement officer, and I've had with the Sacramento Police Department a wonderful experience, and I've been given some great opportunities in leadership roles, especially as an LGBT officer.

Those positions have been a spokesperson for the chief's office for the chief himself, a communications team member.

I was under the office of the city manager before and during the uh Golden One Center opening.

Um, and now I'm the sergeant of training and research and development in our in-service unit.

So uh one of the other reasons why I think I'm standing here, I know I'm standing here in front of you, is because I was the informal liaison, LGBT liaison, for about 10 years.

And it's only been in the past three years that um that it's been formalized.

So in the past three years, I've been the LGBT liaison, but now we're lucky enough to have two more.

So we have three LGBT liaisons, uh, Sergeant Eddie McCulley and Officer Debrielle Browder.

Uh this presentation is near and dear to my heart as I've been honored to be part of this inclusive journey with fellow LGBT officers, our department, the community, and the center.
