Uh, let's go ahead to item three, the tenant protection program.

So good afternoon, Vice Mayor Shneer and members of the committee.

I'm Tina LeVote, program manager with the community development department.

And with me today are Tahiri Kraft, our housing services director with Sacramento Self Help Housing and Cheryl Patterson, Senior Deputy City Attorney.

On January 5th, we presented an updated on the tenant protection program or TPP to City Council.

Today we're sharing our progress since that report and responding to suggested code amendments from Councilmember Valenzuela and the Sacramento Tenants Union that were shared at that meeting.

So as you know, our program protects Reynards from excessive rent increases and unjustified evictions.

Full program implementation was delayed due to COVID and our commitment to supporting the city's residential and commercial tenant eviction moratoriums.

This included delaying rental property registration and billing as well as outreach related specifically to the Tenant and Protection Relief Act.

So I just kind of want to give an update on where we're at.

As part of this presentation, I'll give an update on some of the things that we've been working on since then.

Tahiri Kraft will do a presentation on kind of how Sacramento South Help Housing has been assisting us, and then she'll throw it back to me, and then I'll cover the responses to the actual recommendations.

So this week we're actually mailing registration packets that are associated with over 42,000 rental units.

And this is really important because our program is self-supporting and registration is really critical to establishing the information that we need for invoices for program fees that are going to be mailed to our landlords next month.

So last year we weren't able to recover our fees due to COVID, so we're really committed to collecting revenue this year to ensure funding for the program.

So this kind of leads to our outreach.

And I know there have been some concerns about our outreach focusing primarily on landlords.
