I don't want to uh speak on the resolution support uh calc care and Medicare for all.

I think we uh you should support it because it will save money for the people in Sacramento and the rest of the country and the state.

Uh more people go bankrupt because of health care cost, and this will help the people out.

Also, a lot of people use GoPro to uh pay for their health care.

Also, people can uh change jobs regularly, get a better job without losing their health care, or if they lose a job, they'll relate with their health care coverage.

Hi, um, my name's Philip Kim.

I live in South Lane Park, District 4, uh, and I'm a community organizer for the California Nurses Association.

And I just wanted to thank the committee um for adding the Medicare for All Cal Care resolution to today's consent consent calendar to pass to the full council.

Uh, we have a health care system where the profit motive leads too many Californians who either can't get the care they need due to cost or are receiving huge medical bills that they can't afford, even if they have insurance in many cases.

Uh and we have a health care system where the profit motive just reigns supreme.

And both the um state bill AB 1400 and the national bill HR 1976.

This is for Medicare for All and for Calcare on the state level.

Both of these bills would uh change the way that we fund our health care system.

And uh for health care facilities, it would use institutional global budgets to fund health care facilities, hospitals, and clinics in a similar way that we fund um fire departments uh and etc.

Those type of departments.

It would remove the profit motive and allow um patient care to be the focus.

Right now, I just want to share that we are confronting a really dangerous practice that Kaiser is starting to implement.

They have this new home all alone program where they're trying to keep patients at home uh instead of being able to receive the care that they need uh in hospitals with trained um uh you know trained clinicians able to treat them.

And so um AB 1400 and HR 1976 would allow the public to have more control over how our health care resources are used to make sure that we're fully funding patient care and not allowing um the profit motive in some of these health care providers to uh put patients at risk.

So thank you very much uh for your for considering and adding this to the uh consent calendar.
