Please rise for the opening acknowledgments in honor of Sacramento's indigenous people and tribal lands.

To the original people of this land, the Nissanam people, the South Southern Maidu, the Valley and Plains Mi Wok, the Pot Patwin Windtoon peoples, and the peoples of the Wilton Rancheria, Sacramento's only federally recognized tribe.

May we acknowledge and honor the Native people who came before us and still walk beside us today on these ancestral lands by choosing to gather together today in the active practice of acknowledgement and appreciation for Sacramento's indigenous people's history, contributions, and lives.

And if we can turn and face the flag and pledge, I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands.

One nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

Well, my first meeting as chair, we would normally also vote on vice chairs, so I want to make sure you all know that that was inadvertently left off the agenda and will be on our agenda in two weeks.

So thank you, Madam Clerk, for that assist.

And we will get that taken care of at our next meeting.

Um so starting off with the consent calendar, I know I have a couple of questions on item two, but I'd like to open it up if anybody else has questions on the consent calendar.

Is it okay uh that I generally uh abstain from consent because I was not elected at the time.

That is absolutely okay.

All right, so on item two for the log, I was hoping for an update on our cannabis items.

I know we have several pending items and also a couple of new members.

We covered a lot of ground last year, so I'm really hopeful we can agendize an update from staff.

So councilmember Jennings and Councilmember Kaplan can catch up.

We're me and the vice mayor are well versed in all things cannabis in the town, and we have a request from our public health experts to get a presentation specifically on impacts to young people and potential mitigation measures.

That's been outstanding as well.

So um, Consuelo, I hope we can follow up with staff to get that on the agenda, hopefully at our next meeting, but at least in the very near future.

And with that, I'll take a motion on the consent calendar.

Um I'll move that um uh madam chair.

I also did have wanted to uh at least also suggest I think we do have an item on the log on education on uh education outreach and resources for cannabis.

And if I recall, we were actually voting on voted on some of that, and we're voting on that again.

So if staff thinks it's prudent at this moment to pull that off the log and narrow the log, I think we're moving forward on that item.

Yep.

So I'll make my motion with giving staff the liberty to see if we've uh accomplished that.

Well, I I actually want to abstain from it because I was not here for that meeting.

Oh, yeah, good.

So I want to abstain from it, but I also want to make a comment on item number two as it relates to the negative impact between cannabis and alcohol.

And I just want to know um what studies we have that can give us a better idea of an education while we're voting on such an important subject as to the uh negative impacts of cannabis versus alcohol and and just understand that a little bit better.

Absolutely, and that's a great question, Councilmember Jennings.

And I know some of that we might have, and some of it, Davina.

I know we had a lot of discussions, and I remember talking about potential intersections, especially under the topic of consumption lounges, and so maybe we can bring some of that back.

So to be specific, the various stages of the impact of alcohol versus cannabis.

Okay is the if I if I might is that what personal health impact versus impact in the community personal health person's done consumption.

All right, thank you, Councilmember.

And we'll make sure to get back with Davina and her team on the Office of Cannabis Management and get that brought back to council so we can start digesting that here at the committee because it is quite a bit of content.

Um, Councilmember Kaplan and Council Mr Jennings that we've covered in this committee, and I'd like you all to help get up to speed so you know what's coming before we start voting on things.
