Uh want to thank the committee for allowing me to come and speak today.

Um, for the past nine to ten years that I've been on the council, we've been working on issues around young people.

Uh one to provide the support and opportunity and access that they need to be successful.

And as importantly, to um as importantly to change a perception of how people look at young people and also how the supports how the city supports young people.

Kind of taking that in three buckets of work.

Uh one is the policy realm.

What kind of policies do we need and what do we need to change uh to make sure that that those goals that I just enumerated are met.

Uh the second is building infrastructure within the city to carry out programmatic goals.

And then the third is always gonna be about resources uh that that we can provide for young people.

I've always been of the belief that we don't do quite enough or not nearly enough.

I've been involved with two ballot propositions, both of which have lost narrowly.

Or the first one was measure Y lost by less than 1% on a two-thirds vote.

And I'll be involved in measure A and the aspect of that that's most important to me is around inclusive economic development and money for youth.

Measure U Community Advisory Committee Meeting - September 21, 2020
