Good evening. My name is Jacob Redberg with the Office of the City Clerk. Welcome to the Monday, January 22nd, 2024, 4 p.m. meeting of the Measure U Community Advisory Committee Budget and Policy Subcommittee. The meeting is now called to order. I will now do a roll call to establish a quorum. Member Byrd is absent. Member Pascal. Present. Member Sala. Here. Member Wolf is currently absent. You do have a quorum. I'd like to remind members of the public that are in chambers. If you would like to speak on an agenda item, please turn in a speaker slip when the item begins. You'll have two minutes to speak once you are called on. After the first speaker, we will no longer accept speaker slips. We will now proceed with today's agenda. Please rise for the opening acknowledgments in honor of Sacramento's indigenous people and tribal lands. To the original people of this land, the Nissanon people, the Southern Maidu, Valley and Plains Miwok, Patland Winton peoples, and the people of the Wilton Rancheria, Sacramento's only federally recognized tribe. May we acknowledge and honor the native people who came before us and still walk beside us today on these ancestral lands by choosing to gather together today in the active practice of acknowledgement and appreciation of Sacramento's Indigenous Peoples' history, contributions, and lives. Our first item today is the selection of chair and vice chair for calendar year 2024. There's no staff presentation on this on this item. All information is detailed in your staff report. But I will remind the uh the committee of a few things. Members may nominate another member or themselves for chair or vice chair. Typically, nominations will be heard for the chair position first, then followed by the vice chair. A member may serve as the chairperson or vice chair person for no more than two calendar years, which uh that will be a non-issue as this is the first meeting of this subcommittee. Uh and the newly elected chairperson, vice chairperson will start their terms at the next regular meeting. Um I am here for any questions if uh members have any. Uh member Salah. Yes, I would like to nominate Nikki as chair. Member Macius. Um, how would you feel about being vice chair? I think you're the most experienced of the of the rest of us here. So can I nominate Marbella as the vice chair? Absolutely. Nikki, how do you feel about your nomination? Um I'm a little surprised. I wasn't expecting that to be the first uh order of business, but um I would be happy to I'd be happy to be involved if that's the will of the committee and with the uh guidance of our more seasoned commission member. I I um willing, I guess. So of the two motions um today. I have a um I have a motion by member Salah uh to um uh who nominated uh member uh pascal as the chair. Is there a second on that motion?
