I'd like to thank my colleagues for joining me today in Halloween and the spirit.

So I'd like to call to order the personnel and public employee committee meeting.

I'd now like to turn to the land acknowledgement.

Valenzuela, can you please?

Please stand if you are able for the opening acknowledgement in honor of Sacramento's indigenous people and tribal lands to the original people of this land, the Nissanon people, Southern Maidu, Valley and Plains Miwok, Putwin Wenttoon peoples, and the people of the Walton Rancheria, Sacramento's only federally recognized tribe.

May we acknowledge and honor the Native people who came before us and still walk beside us today on these ancestral lands by choosing to gather.

Oh, sorry, I was how to sneeze.

Choosing to gather today in the active practice of acknowledgement and appreciation for Sacramento's Indigenous People's History Contributions and Lives.

We are now moving on to item two, which is the review of applicants for the Ethel McLeod Heart Trust Fund Advisory Committee.

The seats needing recommendation today for the Ethel McLeod Hearts Trust Fund Advisory Committee are seats F.

Uh requirements for seat F are as follows.

A member representing the population at large and reflected reflective of the socioeconomic makeup of the older adult population who is at least 60 years of age.

Good afternoon.

I guess I don't need to talk so loud.

Um I've been involved with uh community-based organizations for now over um 40 years.

Um I've been working with non-traditional students such as myself.

All of that time.

That was before some of you were born.

Um we we evaluated state arts programs.

I traveled all over the state of California and had an opportunity to work with some very prominent um artist.

And um my knowledge and experience kind of overlap.

I um retired from the University of California, Davis, the College of Engineering.

I was a Mesa director there for 15 years, and so I focused again on the non-traditional learner with non-traditional learning styles.

And I enjoyed it immensely.

I was able to travel all over the United States, work with engineering colleges in K through 16 settings, um, developing grants for retention, recruitment, and graduation of underrepresented groups of math and science.
