Personnel and Public Employees Committee Special Meeting – December 12, 2023

The Personnel and Public Employees Committee met in special session on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Sacramento City Hall Council Chamber, 915 I Street, to interview applicants and recommend appointments to multiple city boards and commissions. All members were present: Chair Lisa Kaplan, Vice Chair Caity Maple, Councilmember Sean Loloee, and Councilmember Katie Valenzuela. No public comment was offered. The meeting adjourned at 2:11 p.m.

  • Civil Service Board (Seat A): Three applicants were listed; none appeared in person, and Gwynnae Byrd had notified the office she could not attend. The committee recommended incumbent Gwynnae Byrd for Seat A. Motion by Councilmember Valenzuela, seconded by Councilmember Loloee; passed unanimously.

  • Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Commission (Seats B and D): Five applicants were reviewed; Barry Boyd was not present.   • Planning and Design Commission (Seat J): Seven applicants were on the list; several were not present. Staff clarified that some applicants had applied only for the still-open Seat L, which required licensed architect, landscape architect, contractor, or licensed engineer qualifications, and that staff would reach out to confirm qualifications. The committee recommended Robert Blunt for Seat J. Motion by Councilmember Loloee, seconded by Vice Chair Maple; passed unanimously.
