Sacramento Planning and Design Commission Meeting – September 8, 2022

Public Hearings & Discussion Items

Item 03: 2300 J Street – Proposed Storefront Dispensary (P22-014)

  • Project Description: A conditional use permit to establish a cannabis dispensary (storefront with delivery) in an existing ±13,374-square-foot, two-story retail building with ground-floor parking and a third-floor penthouse on 0.15 acres in the General Commercial Zone (C-2-SPD) at 2300 J Street (District 4). The project also includes minor exterior building and site work.
  • Staff Presentation: Associate Planner Robert Williams presented the project, noting that the site is within 600 feet of two child care centers, one church, two tobacco retailers, and within 300 feet of a residential zone. The police and fire departments reviewed the project. Staff recommended approval, citing that the use would replace a vacant building with employment and tax revenue.
