Um I can't remember how many minutes I have, two or three on this, but I just wanted to stop by and kind of give you a little bit of an update.

My name is Lisa Sanchez and I volunteer with a nonprofit River City Waterway Alliance here in Sacramento.

We our mission is to uh clean, restore, and protect our local waterways in perpetuity.

And so one of the things we've come across is a little bit of a jumble of whose responsibility jurisdiction of these waterways are, especially within the city of Sacramento.

So finding that Safca kind of oversees parts of where we do a lot of our work, which is Steelhead Creek and Arcade Creek, Robla Creek, within the two levees, uh flood control side and RD's side.

Um we do a lot of work there.

Yeah, we've I think removed over two million pounds of trash just in that little stretch right there.

It's about and it's considered uh the city of Sacramento's Weta Parkway.

Um we work with them and we are currently working with them to um kind of get some information and some uh help assistance there from the city, which we have been doing.

The reason why I'm here is just to say thank you to everybody who has been helping us, American River Flight Control District has been a big um great partner with that, same with um RD 1000, um board of supervisors as well within the outside of the parameters of you know the county, but within Safca's uh proximity, thank you, as well as the city of Sacramento and so forth.

Um with that, we are not only migrating from trash removal because that was phase one.

There was so much of it, we just had to start working there to invasive species removal, and we are um doing that all by hand, and I was here a few months back just to try to put a little bug in your ear at Safe Ca as a uh reminder that you did have a um invasive species removal program back in the day, maybe a decade ago or so.

And now that we're out of COVID and hopefully maybe there's some budgetary, you know, streamlining going on that we were hoping to put another bug in your ear to revitalize something with that.

With that, we were there at Roblox Creek Sunday night.

We had an event, and I just wanted to share the water hyacinth that has plagued Robla Creek for a long time.

It gets super bad there.

Um we did a event which turned into a fun party for us.

We're in there with water waiters and schlepping and all that kind of stuff.

Um, but it I just want to kind of show the before and after of what people can do.

And the bad part is that you know the seeds disperse and it goes into the next creek, which is Steelhead Creek, which is a big salmon corridor that we're really trying to focus on restoration.

It hasn't quite migrated there for whatever reason as uh Hyacinth is, but you know, the water primrose has.

So that's another one we're working on.

So, anyways, I would love to encourage a little bit of monetary assistance of some sort, um, whether it is manual labor, which is all we can provide of restoration and removal, but we recognize that even though we are environmental stewards, we understand that um you know, unfortunately, aquatic safe aquatic safe spraying is really the go-to for these very large swatches of invasive species.

And we would love to be able to have some help with that in these waterways.
