over that time period with the interest of time and not going to see higher so very linked resolution uh too panel one of the most significant programs team was very influential piloting sacrist's first smart right microcran service zone in the city of central science which has grown to one of the largest and most successful microcranit services in the entire country we was also chair with SAC RT transition our air transit services called SACRT Go back in house after more than 30 years of contracting it out it's been a pleasure serving with Steve uh I truly enjoyed the time that we spent together not just at this guy but uh in in somewhere travels throughout the country and uh yeah I learned a great deal from Steve um as far as uh about transit um but also about uh stepping back and uh hopefully uh I've watched you know you're you're a true gentleman um and uh I have watched you uh when people were not necessarily the easy but and the way that uh you could um disarm them uh just with your kindness uh and the fact that uh you treated them with respect uh and I I take it in that way I I truly watch you know enjoyed watching you these last few years as chair and I I hope that uh should I have the opportunity to uh serve as chair in the future uh that I will continue to keep that in mind and use you as a uh as an example of what a real true chair and public service has to be and we've already taken many photos and I think here you go I'm sure you can probably have a stack of those uh congratulating Steve you know it wasn't enough that he served one of the data um uh city council and so many other things um but when most people would be looking at uh retirement Steve has taken on the school member a few of us sitting up there uh we have done that in the past and um it's that's no easy retirement job that you are and so I again that shows maybe our kids okay next item thank you so much next item the next item is three point two resolution two point two two one two one four zero commending down the Tolie presented by chair millen okay well there's a through all of a type of we uh commission for you and and part of what it's based on is you have represented the county of Sacramento on the SAC RT board of directors okay swap it yeah I think we're at 259 and you serve as chair in 2003 in 2011 um I always wanted to outlast you but this is what happened and you were instrumental in televising the SAC RT board meetings on public access thanks to a series uh the table commission and setting up the five retirement boards I didn't know that and you were on the board when SACRT extended light rail for the first time 2.3 miles from butterfield to major field mill station we had several extensions and openings of light rail lines since something blown up and during the channel having the blue and green lines now serving 53 stations 53 stations repository of SAC RT history and a voice of reason for the last 24 years just stood up an honor privilege and a pleasure serving Mr John clear I forgot to call for public comment but I will remember when uh we're gone is there any uh uh directors who like the comment just real briefly taking this chair's uh wanna sorry for the some of the resolution and I know that uh director and quality that's quite a couple months and that uh for this week uh part of the momentus week for our being of the board of supervisors and uh he's also been a command of mentor uh me and others uh in this past year the long time director here one of public thank you on with um all the advice the council and partnership and uh conversations that we've uh heard over the years when it comes to uh making sure uh our constituents the Sacramento County that are um uh using uh the system uh our uh public report and our decision making and uh you really taught me the important uh

Uh I know that uh our board is divided and uh he's also managed for uh me and others uh the advice council and partnership and uh conversations that we've uh heared over the years by conceiving uh making sure that our constituents are uh the system uh our here for our city making and uh really copying for uh uh appreciate that uh directors go ahead, Jeffrey, Jeffrey.

You're there's several of you going off, Jay Shane, and I think Pat Hume's role is now altered and changed.

And Don, thank you.

You have been uh such a great help in transportation.

I'm going to miss that institutional knowledge, Steve.

You know, I mean, I hope you back up and provide the institutional knowledge of what is knowing and going on.

It's been down here fascinating to learn and realize how big the homeless problem truly is.

I had no grasp and idea of that, but I also used per 35 cents public transportation to get around.

Very interesting, and I hope that we can figure out how we get public dollars readily available for RT's needs.

I'd like to work on that and see what we can come up with, what's effective for the region.

Um, please uh correct the problems with the 2200 buses, correct the problems with the bus shelters.

I will note the last one that I have found is entitled 3171, which is right down in front of the community on L Street, the community theater.

And yet when you post poked it in, it says that it's at Florin.

So I wonder how the 142, you know what's happening with the bus schedule and time there.

So please, these are things that should be easy corrections and fixes, solve the internal problems that are needed.

So I can't find these lovely little things in the weeds.

Um with that, I hope you guys have a good holiday.

Uh and I will thank you again and hope that I've represented as a good uh transit ambassador.

And to that, Steve, last time I thought I put written comment in, it was as a transit ambassador, not as Jeff Tartigia, the individual that is concerned about transit needs.

I hope that those can be distinguished in the future.

Uh, when and how I do that, but again, people uh for everyone that's done service in the future.

And because they have the same thing going on with YOLO, a number of people that have been very valuable for YOLO's transportation, they are also retiring from their various boards and everything else.

The next item is 3.3, resolution 2022 12141 commending Patrick Hume, presented by Chair Miller.

Okay, and Patrick's not here, but we will uh I will mention a few things that are is on the uh commendation we have for him, and uh this is future Sacramento County Supervisor Pat Hume.

And Pat has represented the city of Elk Grove on the SAC RT Board of Directors for 16 years, and he served as our chair in 2013.

Patrick has been instrumental in working to reduce vehicle miles travel and traffic congestion through sustainable transportation planning and was chair when SAC RT opens its second bus maintenance facility in McClellan Park.

He's been working tirelessly to extend light rail to Elk Grove to meet our region's clean air goals.

And I'm sure we'll get there someday very soon.

And with that, uh any directors like to comment and see none any public comment.

The next item is 3.4 resolution 2022 12142 commending Jay Shaneer, presented by Chair Miller.

Oh, I know this guy.

Um, we're recognizing retiring City of Sacramento Council member Jay Shaneer.

And Jay has represented the City of Sacramento on the SAC RT Board of Directors for 11 years and served as our chair in 2015 and 2016.

Jay has worked tirelessly to improve mobility options and transit access for our city's youth, champion SAC RT's ride free RT initiative in 2019, where uh children in K through 12 and pre-K2 for that matter, uh, can ride free on our transit system.

And this was the first program in the nation to provide unrestricted free rides for over 2,000 uh 265,000 youths and students by negotiating one million in dedicated transportation funding from the city of Sacramento for the first year of the program and has added it to the city's base budget to ensure the program continues for future years.

And this is one of our most successful programs and it has increased youth transit, their ridership reduced absenteeism at schools, and provided more access to non-school related travel for kids as of September 2022.

The program is currently on track to exceed 3.5 million student rides for the year.

That's impressive.
