Um we are gonna take a uh fifteen minute recess, so we have uh we just received a you know, right before the meeting, a copy of the interim city manager employment agreement to give everyone a chance to read it.

So um it is eleven.

Um, everybody I think has had a chance to read through the um interim city manager employment agreement.

And so I'm gonna call on the city auditor and clerk Griggs and City Attorney Polzak to make the presentation.

Well, on this is really not much of a presentation.

As a commissioner read the um employment contract.

Um, if you have any questions or anything that you aren't happy with, please let us know now so we can make any adjustments.

Um, my first question is how does this compare to the contract we have with Mr.

Jeff Coate?

Yeah, very similar is actually based off that template, which is a fairly standard template that the city has been using.

We just made some updates to it, which we went through with Mr.

Bullock and we could go through with the commission if you want us to.

Okay, that's all right.

Um and the second thing I noticed when I was reading the charter and the city manager's duties, it referred to an acting city manager.

Does it matter if we refer to them as interim or acting?

We we definitely literally just had this discussion about an hour ago.

Um the way the charter is written, it says acting, but we we think this is a charter issue and not more so our issue because technically we look at acting as different than an interim.

You know, acting could be, let's say Mr.

Jeff Cote gets sick and Mr.

Robinson needs to be the acting city manager for a month.

We look at that as acting and not interim.

So I think there's a charter change that we need to maybe fix in the next charter review.

But um I think we all agree that interim would be the best language for this contract.

Good.

I uh I appreciate that.

And my third and final question is the charter provides the authority uh to the city manager for appointment and removal of city officers and employees.

Do would this apply to the interim city manager?

Does it apply to Mr.

Jeff Coate?

So it will apply to Mr.

Bullock, that's uh as you said, authority specified in the charter for for the city manager and interim city manager in this case.

It did not apply to Mr.

Jeff Coat.

There was language in it where he could not um hire and fire um a part of his duties, but with this contract it does allow you um this interim to hire and fire.

And why did you choose to vary from the wording in Mr.

Jeff Coates contract?

I had heard from a couple of commissioners the concern of that and wanting that to be in the language of being higher and fire.

I don't mind, I just wanted to know what the rationale was.

Um I had a question on the second page uh term two under E.

Um I was wondering about the um if Mr.

Bullock is unable to perform the essential functions because of sickness, disease, et cetera, for a period of three consecutive months.

And I I thought that might have been a little excessive, and I was wondering maybe one month would be more appropriate.

Yeah, that was that was in the Jeff Coat agreement.

That was on the um agenda.

So and unless there's other direction, we just kept it in there.
