The City Council held a regular meeting on June 1, 2026, beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance, a birthday recognition for Police Chief Travis Katiska and Ashley, and an invocation by Jim Barthes. The Council approved the agenda, received a community update from the Compass Center for Families, heard a staff presentation on Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), held public hearings on two ordinances, approved a consent agenda, and awarded a construction bid for the old landfill remediation project.
Good evening, everyone. Could we uh stand for the pledge, please? And to the Republican delivery and justice for all. Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the June 1st regular meeting of City Council. Uh, before we start, I do have some important business to take care of. Our police chief Travis Katiska managed to miss last week, and it was his birthday. And I have an unreliable source that Ashley's birthday is coming up almost immediately. And so could we sing happy birthday to Travis and Ashley? Let's do it. Happy birthday. Happy birthday, Travis and Ashley. Happy birthday to you. And many more just stop. Well, um, thank you all for that. And then if we could have our invocation by Mr. Barthes. Welcome, Jim. Thank you for doing this for us. It's wonderful to be here. Thank you all. Let us pray. Gracious presence, we invite you to be with us as we gather to serve this community. Settle among us, bringing calm to our deliberations, clarity to our thinking, and generosity in our care for one another. Draw us toward what is just, wise, and life giving. When decisions are difficult, grant us patience. When voices differ, grant us humility. When the path forward is unclear, grant us the courage to seek the common good. Bless this council, the people they represent, and all whose lives are touched by the work done here today. May our actions reflect a spirit of respect, responsibility, and hope for all the well-being of our city and its future. Amen. Amen. Thank you so much for that. Um Ashley, if you'd be so kind. Councilmember Lumen. Here. Councilmember Brantz. Present. Councilmember Wood. Councilmember Lightnum. Present. Councilmember Whitzel. Present. Councilmember Patzig. Mayor Bridger. Present. Thank you, Ashley. And now could I get a motion to approve the agenda as presented? So moved. Have a motion to have a second. I have a motion and a second and discussion.
