Hey Gordon, I have a quick question for you.

I just want to make sure I understand the timetable on this as well as what we're doing here is consistent with what was told to the residents out there as far as the levy goes and how it's gonna be extended, that kind of thing.

And if I read it right, you said that the um that the construction activities would start in 2027 and then they'd be completed in 2028.

So I'd just like to just have some confirmation on that from the Gordon Fair City Engineer.

Uh that is the plan for that, yes.

There is a long lead time for the permits through the uh DNR and the core to get these uh that levy extended.

The design is relatively easy and the construction is relatively cheap.

It's the all of the permitting afterwards.

I just I want to thank you for getting the state share uh that was up, it's gonna be up to 865,000 or 50 percent of the eligible cost.

What I wanted to chat about this is I first off, I really appreciate if it was ERA or um whoever it was that came up with this project to be able to replace those.

I think that's an area that really needs to be replaced.

The sidewalk just is somewhat failing and in dire shape along that area, so I think improvement would be uh much needed.

What I would really like you to help me look into and we can discuss it maybe at the next public works to just uh if ERA is there or if I can chat with her.

This area is down across from the convention center is where is the sidewalk area that this goes.

And what I would like to figure out is where we want to send pedestrians to be able to get over to the sidewalk in front of the promenade in front of that pure form, I think is what it's called now.

That's new studio.

There's that sidewalk there that runs along those businesses.

I forget if you and I have spoke about it before, but right there at the end of that sidewalk of where they're proposing to do these new paving pavers to connect to that sidewalk.

There's a drain.

And so they don't know, yeah, there's no way uh, like for me to be able to get off of that ledge and then go to the other side of the sidewalk.

I pretty much just have to go out and around it, you know, and then down into that.

And so if we're redoing that area and the pavers, and it will look more like a sidewalk, because right now it just looks like a big area, not necessarily a dedicated sidewalk.

I just want to make sure we're sending those people in the right area or telling them where to get on and off.

And I I'm sure changing that drain structure would be a big undertaking, but I just don't know what good options there are.

And so I just wanted to hear your thoughts.

Obviously, not today, but just as they're doing this project, I thought maybe that's the time to at least have that discussion.

I'll bring that up to them tomorrow or up to Era tomorrow about that.

And uh I because I noticed that too when she showed me the plans or told me the area.

I didn't see the plans yet.

Told me about that, and I saw that intake.

I'm thinking, well, that's not a very good location for a sidewalk.

So either the sidewalk's gonna be rerouted or the intake has to be moved.

Is I feel like a lot of people do walk that area, and I'm not the only one.

I mean, obviously, anyone with a mobility impairment would hit that going one way or another, and I've it's scary if you're don't if you don't notice it right away, it is quite a drop off.

Um, I just don't know how again we would send people around, but I'm open to those ideas and suggestions.

So, yeah, that'd be great.

At the next team meeting, we're talking about the parking down there on Fourth Street.

So we can maybe bring it to talk uh to the Active Transportation Committee too as well, and come up with a plan, and that'll be part of it.

Paul Koskevich, I'm here to talk about this uh fence issue and what we can do to change the ordinance around here so that uh barbed wire can be pointed out and keep these meth heads out of our property.

I don't know why this got changed in 2015.

I don't know if anyone was here could shed some light on it, but it's absolutely his silly decision.

And uh we need the barbed wire out.

I mean, you have barbed wire into your property, the meth head just jumps right up the fence and jumps over it.

I mean, we got a we got an inspector here that for whatever reason wants to harass us.

I've asked for uh he sent us a letter, wants to find us, said there's multiple complaints.

I said uh provide the names, no response.

Followed up today, no response.

I don't know.

I know one complaint I had from another citizen, and so I turned it in, so I'm not gonna sit here and tell you I didn't.

Why why can't we expose who the names are?

If it's because I don't believe it, it's actually illegal, it's illegal.

If you want to try to change the ordinance, you can petition the planning and zoning, but it doesn't matter who turns it out.

I don't give people's names when people call me on weed complaints.

I mean, we've got a huge crime problem in town.

What if you knew the name, what would that change anything?

Because I don't believe it's actually occurring.

I believe that these city city people are living in our tails trying to try and trying to cause problems for no reason.

The fence is moved back further onto our property, so that cannot occur.

And the problem is is we our our building got ransacked while we were changing the fence out.

There was already a fence there.

Uh we lost several hundred thousand dollars, got all the fucking copper stolen tollen out of it, all the wire stolen out of it, because there's a huge crime problem this town.

Just on Friday, LG Everst had all their conveyors behind my building, all the copper stolen out of it.

I mean, there's a huge problem in this town, especially where my shop is and our new buildings at.

And we want to keep them out of here.

Why can't you just ask the we're not we can't change it automatically?

Because here's what I'm trying to get at is is there's no working with people in some of these departments here.

Some people are great, Daryl's great, Renee's great.

Chris, no good.

Ron, no good.

All they want to do is make our life hell.

They don't have a solution.

They don't come to you and say, hey, you know what?

Maybe this is a bad idea.

Maybe we could work with you on figuring out a solution.

Instead, they want to send you a letter, say there's two anonymous complaints, and we're gonna find you.

Your guys were sweeping them off.

I happened to drive by.

It was after We didn't even make it one hour, and someone's already calling a complaint.

I don't know about that, but I'm telling you, I drove by at 1 30 because I went to the doctor, and there were big clouds on the sidewalk.

So what did the sidewalk?

They were they were doing the parking lot at that time by the case.

She was talking about the sidewalk.

I went to get a sandwich.

It was before one o'clock because I was back in my office at one.

You were you had two guys sweeping the sidewalks.

I know because Eric already called the complaint.

Well, I want to start by um thanking the neighborhood network.

Um, all of the individual neighborhood networks for hosting National Night.

Um police and fire for making sure that they're well attended and having lots of activities for um for kids.

I as a parent really appreciated that.

Um I I didn't Riverside second this year.

I had a little bit of foresight because uh last year uh I got soaked uh with the hose game that they have set up, and I told Dan that was gonna happen.

And as soon as Dan left, my kids uh started started the the hose game, so it was a good wet, fun time.

Um but I want to thank them because that is a huge undertaking uh to get the food, get the food pledged, have activities set up.

Um Pete Peters had to run to the store because they ran out of prizes at Riverside for the the bottle toss that he was doing.

Um it just it just takes it takes a lot.

A lot of people have a big coordinated effort to make that happen every year.

So I want to uh send a thank you out to all of them.

Um we got a big week, lots of meetings, a lot a lot of meetings with school starting back up.

Um, but we do still have some summer programming.

Next weekend, the Sergeant Floyd Memorial Encampment is one that I always look forward to.

That is Saturday.

Uh between 10 and 12, they'll have kids' activities, and it's right down at the river at the welcome center.

I just wanted to um say a reminder, because I had a couple people that reached out or I saw posting about this that the pools have officially closed for the season.

They just had their last uh weekend, and so they will be closed.

Uh it's extraordinarily difficult to staff them once schools and everything go back in session.

So I spoke with Matt, and that's still the plan.

However, I would remind folks that splash pads are open through Labor Day, and um if warm weather's can warm weather continues beyond Labor Day that they'll try their best to accommodate to keep them open um as long as the warm temperatures are around, so they'll do their best with that.

But yeah, it seems like summer came and went really quickly, and and so now uh looking forward to the the next school year and what what can be done, but that's all I have, Mayor.

Um on Saturday the the uh Siouxland African uh fest was held.

It looked like it was very successful with the numbers that turned out.

There's a lot of great music, great food, and uh lots of merchandise for sale.

And it was uh it was just really really, really good.

I was glad they had that on our community.

And um the national night out was uh also I think a great success, and I'm glad we do that every year.
