0:10Good evening, everyone.
0:12Good evening, everyone.
0:15Good evening, everyone.
0:16We ask everyone to please stand.
0:20We love the energy in here, especially when we've got a city council chambers filled with champions.
0:26It's very exciting for all of us.
0:28We're ready to begin our meeting.
0:33You got the excited too.
0:36That sounds like a committee meeting we had earlier today.
0:40Let's bow our heads for our prayer.
0:43Dear God, bless our proceedings tonight.
0:45Give us the wisdom to know what is just, and the strength to do what is right.
0:49Please remain standing for our pledge.
0:52I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands.
1:00One nation, under God, indivisible, liberty and justice for all.
1:07Approval of the minutes.
1:08I'll make the motion.
1:09We approve the minutes.
1:10It's been moved and second.
1:11Did we approve the minutes voting?
1:17Minutes stand approved.
1:18Proclamations and statements by the city council.
1:22I want to at this time turn it over to Councilor Norman Crow, who has a special presentation.
1:39Speaking of the microphone.
1:41This is a uh a great night to honor a team that an all-star team that is part of our para.
1:52We don't get to have any ones excited at y'all here tonight.
1:57I want to say a couple of things on the call.
2:06We're honored to have all of y'all here tonight.
2:08Um 2025 baseball league.
2:12This is a 10 and under all-stars season.
2:15A couple of highlights for them.
2:1713 players, all members of the regular season team.
2:20Nine or 10-year-old kids came to form a team that would represent the city of Tuscaloosa with character, with class, and with integrity.
2:29They began practicing in mid-May, and competition went through July 13th.
2:34The team was playing on the very last day of the season, long after most had finished.
2:39When the season was over, they achieved great things.
2:42They were the regional tournament runner-up silver classification that was held at Socal Park.
2:47They were the state championship runner-up class 4-A in Oxford, Alabama.
2:52They were a World Series finalist gold minor classification in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
2:58They had eight, they played 18 official tournament games.
3:01Their record was 11 and 7.
3:03They they took on many strong teams.
3:05Eight of their opponents finished either in state or world series championship runner-up.
3:11And we're all very proud of their accomplishments, and they represented Tuscaloosa well.
3:16And I'd like to call Coach Harry Shoemaker up to say a few words, and if you would introduce the team, Eric.
3:38I guess I'm addressing the council and the audience.
3:42No, it it's a true honor to be here.
3:44Um I want to thank Norman and the entire city council for the invite.
3:49It was truly a special experience with this group of young people here.
3:54Um a couple of uh brief comments, obviously, I didn't bring anything with me prepared.
4:00Um, but I couldn't be prouder to be the head coach of this team.
4:05Um first and foremost, the group of parents and volunteer coaches that came together and provided the support and the commitment that it took to achieve the success that we did that they did uh has to be recognized.
4:20It could not be done without such a great group of parents and coaches, and uh I just want to say hats off to you all.
4:29When we started, um, if you're not familiar with all-star tournament baseball, none of the games are easy.
4:37The competition's very stiff.
4:39Um it's it's long, it's grueling, and the word commitment uh probably best sums up these these children.
4:48Should have been on summer break is that we practice daily.
4:51We played 18 games like Councilman Crow mentioned.
4:55Uh, and and so a few principles that we laid that they took to heart, and it really showed on and off the field.
5:02We made fans everywhere we went, teams that that we beat that beat us, and we always represented this community with class.
5:12Um, but three guiding principles were respect, honor, and integrity.
5:19And before we picked up the first baseball back in May, we talked about that, respecting oneself and others, always conducting oneself with honor and then having integrity, and every one of these kids took that to heart, and the results beared out.
5:36So before I call them out, I have two stats I want to share with everybody that really sums up the grit and the determination and the never say die attitude of these children.
5:47Uh we played three triple headers this summer.
5:52I've done doubleheader, but uh three games in a day, and that that gets pretty intense.
5:57Our record was uh seven and two in such scenarios, and that culminated in Biden Rouge on Friday, I believe July 11th.
6:07We played three games, we won all three, and the third was the state champion of the state of Arkansas, and that game went to extra innings.
6:16Uh the other statistic I want to share is an elimination games.
6:20Those are the ones where if you lose your season is over, and we had eight such games, we went five and three.
6:26Um, that type of pressure, that type of you know, back against the wall.
6:31These children grew leaps and bounds, and they learned life lessons.
6:35And I just want to thank the city council uh for the support that you give us through Para and the program at Tuscosa Baseball League, obviously Keith Jenkins, Dale Phillips.
6:46So uh without any any further delay, I'm gonna introduce the team members and we'll get over with it.
6:53Um we'll start with uh Noah Newells.
7:00Noah you want to stand up and wait and say hey, all right.
7:04All right, next to Noah, we have Theo Davis.
7:11We've got uh Presley Cheese.
7:27We've got Benjamin Gonelinsky, yes.
7:43Let's see, Daisy Kate Grammar to do that, Jackson Best Peter, Tommy Wader.
8:00Uh Andrew Hebbett stands up.
8:06Last but not least, uh our team captain, CJ Ramble.
8:15I got a little thanks, y'all.
8:17Would y'all come on the spike picture?
8:25You can take me from everybody down there.
8:33Why don't we step up a little bit this one a lot?
8:36So y'all get equal on both sides, happy on this side, happy on that side.
8:42See counsel sometimes.
8:44Can I I want to say a few words while we're getting the parents lined up, getting our kids lined up here to the parents that are out there?
8:54Um, you know, as someone who is has a young child that's been part of sports, it is a sacrifice on your part.
9:00Getting them to practice, getting them to practice at all.
9:05The investments you made monetarily, um you are real difference makers.
9:10Let's get to all these parents.
9:21Is everyone in the picture out of the lot of us up there?
9:39And we understand parents and players.
9:42If you need to depart, you're welcome to it this time.
9:45So please, we we certainly understand.
9:49Congratulations again.
9:58We like fun meetings.
10:02That'll be with them the rest of their lives.
10:07Go that far is impressive.
10:13Cough's not going to go away for a little while.
10:16You're not going to get rid of that call for a while.
10:27Do we have any other council announcements tonight?
10:32Let me make one announcement.
10:33Veterans Day is next Tuesday.
10:36So Monday's trash route, garbage route, recycling route will be the same as it always is.
10:41Tuesday, of course, will not happen.
10:44That means we'll just be pushed back one day.
10:46So if you normally have your garbage trash and recycling on Tuesday, it'll be pushed back to Wednesday, Wednesday to Thursday, and Thursday to Friday.
10:54If you have any questions regarding that, please contact Tuscaloosa 311.
11:00Fell, just making sure any jacks updates.
11:02I will not be at Jack's Saturday.
11:05But the 15th, I'll be there.
11:07Just we just want to confirm.

13:57So I'm sure I'm sure he needs some time, you know, to try to get it because he lives in Texas, so he needs to get back here and try to get it.
14:08So he's not here in time, he's in Texas.
14:10Yeah, quick in Texas.
14:13I mean, for the way we discussed in pre-council, I'm I'm fine with giving it 30 days um to pull permits and start work on it.
14:21Um, but I think 30 days is that's the most that I'd be willing to give this one right now.
14:30Motion to second to table for 30 days.
14:38Okay, this is a public hearing.

16:56Grant McCabe is petitioning to rezone approximately 0.31 acres located at and around 14310 Santorini Street from SFR1 to LR.
17:07It's currently not in city limits.
17:09Um, so this is a pre-zoning request.
17:12So here's the the strip of land that they are requesting to rezone to LR.
17:17So two property owners, one of them is shifting their lot line, and the other one is purchasing that property, and they want to rezone to that LR color.
17:26Uh LR zoning district, which is that green color that you saw on that previous slide.
17:32Um they're requesting to annex into city limits and have consistent zoning.
17:36You can see that um the two lots there and and what's going on.
17:42And then this does conform to framework, framework identifies this as lakeside living, so the zoning request as well as the intended use conform to the plan as you can see on the future land use character map.
17:52And this was recommended unanimously uh by planning and zoning um for their for approval at their September meeting.
