So this is the uh item from our last meeting.

This was brought forward by Alderman Camacho within his district, and I had a chance to speak with him about this and just to give perspective of where the area is.

So um there is Morland Boulevard running north south and then at the top of the page is Madison Street running east west and Saint Paul um running northeast to the southwest.

So dopp Street right in the middle there, surrounded in the red box.

Uh there seems to be uh a bit of an issue with vehicles parking on the north side of Dobb Street on a regular basis where they're getting they're not in violation, but they are close to the sidewalk.

And it is a bit obstructive to seeing the crosswalk for a vehicles uh coming west on Dop Street, and it sounds like there are a good amount of pedestrians that do cross DOP Street along Moreland Boulevard there.

Um he had spoken with the um residents on the north and south side, and they were both in support of this uh no parking zone on this on this north side of Dobb Street to help uh clear up the vision area for vehicles coming down Dobbs Street so they can see the pedestrians and they can see traffic along Moreland Boulevard, and it was also um a little bit to where the when vehicles were parking on the north side, it effectively like many other streets, and because of vehicles parking there on the regular narrows the roadway itself.

So when vehicles are coming west on DOP and then vehicles wanting to then go east on DOP.

So if they're coming south on Moreland to go east on DOP, kind of tightens things up a little bit and uh just makes it a little little tighter in this type of situation, is the uh message that I received from Alderman Camacho.

So this was with this item from the previous meeting that was taken into consideration with that that budget from the last meeting.

At Foxborough Court, northbound average 30.1 mph (50th 29, 85th 32); southbound average 29.2 mph (50th 29, 85th 32). The committee noted the road has many stop signs every 2-3 blocks, limiting speeding. The item was held over to the next meeting for Alderman Matthews to fill out the new traffic study request form.
  • 5C – Rescind Deaf Child Area Sign on Cody Court: A resolution from August 6, 2019 was rescinded unanimously. The house with the deaf child is for sale; a new sign would be considered if another deaf child moves in.
  • 5D – Rescind No Turn on Red Signs on Grandview Boulevard: A resolution from January 17, 1994 establishing a no-turn-on-red restriction from 6:00am to 8:00pm was rescinded. Staff noted that the current sign in the field displays a different time restriction (11:00am to 4:00pm), but the reason for the change could not be found. The motion to remove both the near-side and far-side signs passed unanimously.
  • 5E – No Left Turn Sign on Sentry Drive: The committee approved adding a northbound "No Left Turn" sign with a "When Line is Formed" plaque at the Drop-Off Center entrance. Signs will be placed on both sides of the road facing southbound traffic for redundancy. The motion passed unanimously.
  • 5F – Committee Name Change: The committee approved recommending to the City Council that the committee name be changed from "Building & Grounds Committee" to "Traffic & Parking Regulations Committee".
