Mayor and Council, it's been another busy stretch here in Weatherford, and we've got some great community highlights to share with you tonight.

When seconds count, they are calm in the chaos, and now they've got awards to uh to prove it.

Huge congratulations to Nikki Smith, named Supervisor of the Year, and Reagan Rice, honored as professional of the year at the North Central Texas 911 Awards.

Officer Riley O'Donnell was recently recognized for winning first place in his age and weight class at the 2025 Texas Police Games Power Lifting Competition.

He uh competed in the 198 weight class with impressive lifts of 425 pound squat, 374 pound bench press, and 440 pound deadlift.

The honor goes to the creative promotion of the first ever Parker County restaurant week, cooked up by the chamber's very own young business leaders of Weatherford.

Look closely, you might see a couple of familiar faces.

And then recently, Weatherford Electric Utilities crew swapped their hard hats for helping hands and rolled up to a Terrant Area Food Bank mobile event, loading up cars with food for local families.

And when Manis Dorehouse found themselves overwhelmed by an abundance of donation, the firefighters at Station 1 responded to this different kind of emergency call.

They rushed to this scene and transformed what would have been an all day unloading marathon into a 30-minute operation.

Speaking of our fire department, they recently deployed some resources to assist in the response to the devastating flood in Central Texas.

One team member is serving as a strike team lead trainee.

And then we sent a large brush truck with two additional personnel as part of a coordinated multi-agency effort.

In times like these, our commitment to serving others extends beyond our city limits.

Uh we've got chill with Weatherford Police Department at Cherry Park on July 23rd from 1 to 2 30.

Then we also have Tip A Cop night at Texas Roadhouse on July 24th from 5 to 9 p.m.

Officers will be trading their badges for aprons to raise money for special Olympics, Texas.

Public Comments & Testimony

  • Marcy Freeman (401 Norton Street) requested the city take action on a dilapidated property at 806 South Brazos Street, which has been vacant since 2013. She cited overgrown weeds, structural decay, and health risks. The mayor asked staff to follow up with a timeline and solution.
  • Jeanette Lockett (317 Cherry Street) alleged that the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce allowed a Republican voter registration booth at the Peach Festival while denying Democratic groups the same opportunity for years. She requested the city council's input. The mayor responded that the Chamber is a separate organization and has committed to not allowing political activities at community events.
