But my my concern is that he's I mean, letter head here is I don't believe he is any kind of things.

It used to be online when I first started on the board, but I can't find it on there anymore.

Um so not a lot of people here, but um I've been trying to pay attention to what's going on in town and all of that stuff, and I see all the hard work that the um town does, select board, the budget committee, conservation committee.

Um just uh want to say thanks for for the time that you guys take out of your own personal lives to take in um deal with just everyday business in town here.

Um I'm sure you go above and beyond probably what you thought you were getting into.

But um even like I said the other committees, um you know, I may not agree with with everything that's always said here, um everything on like the town plan, but there was a lot of work obviously put into that.

Um just typing all that stuff for God's sake.

So um, you know, you guys may not always hear it, but uh thanks for what you do and the the time that you spend here.

Yeah, I I echo the sending this.

I mean there's a lot going on and a lot of volunteer effort going into it.

And I think um I think it's all well intended as well.

And so I I wanted to raise a couple of budget committee concerns.

Um, you know, we just came out of this uh this one process, uh, and the budget committee in our last conversations we we don't want to wait till the fall.

We we think that that's been kind of an unhealthy cycle when you when you wait right until like the November time frame.

Um, I think the the general consensus from the public was they they want to be aware, they want as much advanced notice as possible, whether it's new initiatives like the capital plan or whether it's uh things involving the costs of the policing or what have you, and a couple of the um challenges we had was the in order to to adequately review line items in order to really adequately review the budget, um one of the big concerns was personnel costs, pay benefit salaries.

That was a huge concern for the public, and so um I did ask the town manager to provide a summary uh of data for multi-year compensation benefits because it seems like the the the general fund, the biggest driver in growth for the general fund to the tune of, I think about 600,000 over the past five or six FYs was was payroll salary benefits, and uh you know, our population has remained fairly consistent.

Yes, cost of living goes up, but it's far outpacing cost of living increases, and so uh I asked the town manager for this before the last budget committee, I even offered at my own time to do the the quantitative or statistic analysis like hey, if we need to analyze this, just give me the data.

And and my feedback was that I would be waiting until all cycle to have this information.

I don't think that's really uh a good time frame.

So I would just ask, you know, the select board appoints the budget committee, but for us to do a good job, we have to have that information, and it's all and I shouldn't have to, I don't want to do a complaint or anything, just raising the concern that this is publicly available information, um, and it should be provided immediately.

And and the data, whether it's um ledgers, uh records, that's all public information that most towns report in their annual report.

So um I have a copy of that request uh for the select board, and I'd just like like it to be honored.

I don't want to wait till November.

I'd like to have that information.
