Got a couple things I'd like to mention.

Number one, on behalf of city council, I want to congratulate and thank the uh arts and culture committee.

Two weeks ago, they had a fabulous arts fest out at Wheeling Park, and uh we've had an awful lot of good feedback about that.

So that's off to them.

I also want to acknowledge and thank Bruce Wheeler and his family for 24 years of producing the marvelous blues fest.

As you know, if you haven't heard, he has sold the Rice Though Blues Fest to Dan Millison down at Waterfront Hall.

Bruce is still gonna be involved, and I will tell you that I had the pleasure last Saturday night of presenting him with a proclamation for the city for his efforts.

So if you see Bruce, give him your regards.

Uh I want to congratulate one of our own, Jessica Zelinski.

Uh last week at the West Virginia Municipal League, Jessica was elected as Secretary Treasurer of the State uh Clerks Association.

So Jessica, on behalf of all of us, thank you.

Uh we we know they're in good hands.

Then finally, I want to acknowledge uh uh the city staff and council uh as a unit.

We received an award from the West Virginia Municipal League, uh a city award recognizing our neighborhood program development projects uh that were done last year.

So uh they were well regarded.

So uh we're very proud to receive that that acknowledgment.

Uh Savage Construction will begin the uh streetscaping portion of 12th Street between Maine and water.

Um that work was delayed to get past the um festival season.

Uh, you'll call the council authorized uh redoing the sidewalks, uh which were not part of the original scope of the streescape project from Maine to water on both sides of the street.

The trees have been cut down, they'll be taken out, new sidewalks and paving uh paving ribbon will be put in in this place.

And again, that'll begin on August 25th.

Um, item number three under original propositions this evening.

I would respect the request uh two readings.

This is the uh E citation system funded by the West Virginia Highway Safety Grant.

Um City Council hasn't had a meeting in five weeks, uh so there's been some uh deadlines that need to be met in this grant uh in this ordinance needs to be in Charleston this week.

So if council would consider two readings on that, I would appreciate that.

And then item number eight, which is uh 11th Street street paving.

Um, and uh that is the kind of the final piece of the uh market street parking structure project.

Recall that uh 11th Street was closed during construction.

Uh the that area was used as a lay down area.

It was in in poor condition before the um uh project started.

Uh now that the streetscape paving has come through.

We're coordinating that.

We'd like to get 11th Street paved.

So this is actually uh this was part of the original project, not a part of the original contract, but the part of the original intent was to do this uh portion of 11th Street, and therefore it is on the agenda for council consideration first reading received.
