And the reason one of the reasons I I pulled this is that I got a question about how citizens will find out what their responsibility is for their internal cost structure what when it is when it is finally decided how the rules are going to apply.

So this is a um a resolution resolution uh requesting that the city council approve an application for federal funding to replace lead service lines.

This piece will be just to replace uh service lines within the public right-of-way.

Once the uh lead and copper rule improvements um rule gets finalized in October, we'll have a better idea of what we're requirements we'll have on private property, and that will be you know the utilities requirements.

Um the the funding cycle is every two months, and it's two million dollars per month or per funding cycle.

Um as far as the the customers' responsibility, we will know more after October, but um you know we can't require a um someone to go in and replace pipe pipes on their private property.

As I understand, we have a piece of property that's owned currently by the state, which is a remnant of an old highway system that the state maintained and operated, and this trend this land is being transferred now back to the city for ownership.

Public Works Committee Meeting - Winston-Salem, NC (September 10, 2024)

The Public Works Committee met at 2:00 PM on September 10, 2024, in the Committee Room at 101 North Main Street.
