Would you join the City Council and me and the Pledge of Allegiance?

A pledge of allegiance to the flag of the United States of America.

For which it stands one nation under God in the individual with liberty and it passes from the Q our Sergeant in Arms this afternoon is uh Sergeant Dime, uh Sergeant, thank you for being with us.

As and um we uh had to have this meeting uh today, uh special call meeting because there are two items that were approved at the most recent city council meeting that require a second reading.

Uh state law requires if an ordinance is uh uh passed that has a penalty to it or a fee or something of that nature to it, uh, requires a second reading.

So we'll be dealing with that tonight.

Uh would not be in discussion on these items.

We'll simply uh hopefully have a second reading on it.

But before we get into that, we do have uh guests with us tonight uh from the Winston Salem Dash, uh Brian D'Angelis, who's the executive director of Dash.

Uh we'll be here is going to tell us a little bit about July 4th, I believe.

Yes, sir, and thank you.

Mr.

Mayor, thank you, uh members of of City Council here um for having us and uh and also collaborating with us on this once-in-a-lifetime event that's truly very special, and we're excited to be uh the host of which um we have many things going on here, uh, one of which, and I think maybe the most impressive and important um is we are going to be highlighting 13 members of our community, which are centurions.

They've lived to be over 100 years old, so it must be a pretty nice place to live if you want to stick around that long and you've been doing well and healthy enough to come celebrate with us.

So we're excited to highlight those uh during the Independence Day celebration for America's 250th of the Dash.

Um Mr.

Mayor will also be joining us in uh presenting a proclamation, which we're excited about, and I believe he's been keeping his uh arm warm.

We've been having some good pitching, but maybe we can get a first pitch from you as well, so we would appreciate that.

Basketball perfect.

Um not only will be playing some uh some great baseball, which we have been doing all season long, we'll be hosting the largest fireworks show that the Dash have ever presented.

Um this show is going to be over 20 minutes long and have the most total fireworks that we've ever shot.

So the cleanup will take some time, but it's all going to be worth in the end as well.

We're excited for that.

Um along with Evan Murphy the Bat Dog and our Dash Sweeties doing performances in-game.

We have uh coordinated with the local arts um council here, and we have found four painters, which are going to be doing a live painting uh to commemorate this once in a generation uh experience here at the Dash as well.

And so we're gonna get four different perspectives from four different artists who will uh do that painting live, and then we'll have that on display for all those to see um and circulate those throughout the city as well after the event.

Um and uh last but not but not least, um, we will be having several different versions of entertainment for all of those in attendance.

Um we know it's a very uh crowded night, uh, as it always is historically.

This is a much bigger one than normal.

Um so all of our balloon artists, fans, painters, um uh all those things will be in full effect and accessible to all those fans as well.

So um, if you don't have your tickets already for this event, please I encourage you to get them soon as we historically sell out, and this one is gonna be the biggest one we've ever had.

So uh looking forward to have seeing all of you here and and everyone else in the city of Winston Salem with us as well.
