Good evening and welcome to the uh town board work session for May 14th, 2024.

If we could all stand for the Pledge of Allegiance, and if I could ask the uh Cavit family to lead us, please.

City of the United States of America.

And to the Republic, for which it stands, one nation, under God, individual liberty, and justice for all.

If we could all remain standing for a moment of silence, as um remember all of those uh fighting through strife in our uh in our world today, those struggling with depression, um, and uh and fighting to find the help that they need, and uh we will also uh say a special prayer for our first responders uh for all that they do for our community as well as our armed forces who fight for our freedoms every day.

So I would like to um just review a couple of quick things.

Um as we talk about first responders, uh we had uh an issue at a house uh yesterday, I believe it was, where uh our police were called.

There were people unconscious in the house, uh nausea, headaches, uh sleepiness, carbon monoxide poisoning.

Uh fortunately, uh our police and paramedics got there on time, but it may be you know, I know we're always talking about the safety of locking our cards, be aware of your surroundings, uh maybe go home for your family's sake, uh, your sake, and check your carbon monoxide detectors, and uh just try to make sure that they are working, your batteries are changed.

Uh usually we change our batteries with the clock change, so they're always fresh, and a lot of the newer homes have hardwired, but those hardwired still have uh battery backups that need to be changed as well.

Uh in addition, Tom, I don't know if you could get this.

Tell me which way you want me to hold it.

We have a uh missing 15-year-old uh young lady from from the Lakeland area.

Uh actually is Mohegan Lake.

Who's that?

My neighbor.

Yeah.

Uh she's been missing since Saturday.

She left on her own uh volition.

She did not take her cell phone, so our police are having trouble tracking her down.

They have been following some of the methods that they do to try to find her.

Uh I believe she's also with a friend.

Uh so her name is Violet, and if there's uh if you see her, uh please notify our police, let them know.

Uh they are going through all of the um multi-jurisdictional.

Let me uh pull up um from the chief.

Um we're working with multiple agencies around the clock attempting to locate the girls.

Uh they have been added to the National Missing Persons Database.

Uh again, I'll share that our 15-year-old female left willingly and did not take her phone, making it very challenging to locate her.

I will also point out, I guess uh you'll find us hard to believe that the rumor mill online is running around with all different crazy theories.

Uh please don't buy into that, don't go through the clickbait as they call it.

Uh we wanted we don't want to have uh this whole crazy thing there where people are missing the fact that these girls are missing and we need to find them and get them home.

And if anyone would like a flyer, we do have some outside the clerk's office.

There's a table set up with different uh papers, and you can find these out there.

So said uh and she is with her friend Evelyn Jimenez.

Yeah.

All right.

Um, we do have a couple of proclamations.

I'd like to pass the first one over to Patrick Murphy.

And Pat, why don't you talk a little bit about it first, please?

Yes.

So I just want to thank everybody tonight for coming, and everybody on TV.

Um I just wanted to put a special thanks out to Laura, Lisa, and Dave.

Uh these are very good friends of Robert's, and they're also school teachers here in the school district.

And um, they're very instrumental in getting this proclamation for 15 for life.

So I'm gonna say a couple a little bit about Robert.

Robert uh first was um first and foremost, he was a family man.

Um he would do anything for his mom and dad, his kids, his siblings, and uh his wife, Mary Ann, and the two kids, Luke and uh Landry.

And um Robert's uh Robert is a huge huge uh uh he won three state championships in high school and one NCAA championship in college at Syracuse.

Those statistics are incredible.

So the lacrosse community and the Cavot family have been incredibly, you know, to bring uh health care awareness, uh mental health mental health awareness, you know, to the forefront instead of everybody shying away from it.

They've done a great job.

You know, honestly, Kim and Jeff have taken care in the north.

You have Greg, Steven, and Andrew taking care of the South.

You know, they they covered the whole and they'll talk at high schools, organizations, uh colleges, they'll talk to anything about getting the awareness out about mental health, and they've done a phenomenal job.

So uh I just would like to invite Dave up to read this proclamation.
