So first up tonight we have a presentation.

We will be swearing in two new police officers, Bella Byers and Lewis Morone.

And to do that, we will have our chief step up to the lectern and uh introduce the people.

I I should, as he's making his way up, I should say it's great to see so many people in the audience this evening, and I understand why a good portion of them are here.

It's great to see.

So I think the easiest thing is I will read both their bios, and then you can swear about them at the same time, and then we'll have a family come up and pin them.

So if you two would like to come up and then we'll bring your family up at this second.

So we will start out with Luis.

Uh Luis Moron was born and raised at Brazil, where completed his education and became his professional career career.

He later moved to the United States where he earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration and management.

Louis brings a broad and diverse professional background with experience spanning financial markets, technology companies, and operational leadership roles.

Before joining the city of Astoria, he worked with Finsky Automotive Group in leadership and customer focused positions, supporting daily operations, team coordination, and service ISPs.

Fluent in both English and Portuguese, Lewis Luis became a United States citizen in 2024.

He recently relocated to a story with his wife who accepted a position at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Outside of work, Luis enjoys spending time with his wife, staying active and being outdoors through activities such as surfing and motorcycle riding.

Then we have Bella Bayers.

And she may look familiar because she was up here almost three years ago at the dispatcher.

So Bella was born in Midburg, Germany, and lived in a small village in Germany called Learburg until she was 16.

Bella came to the U.S.

with her parents and six brothers when she was 16 years old.

She's lived in Warrington ever since.

She's always wanted to work in the criminal justice field and most recently served as a dispatcher for almost three years.

The laws and the Constitution of the United States of America.

The state of Oregon and the City of Australia.

That I will faithfully bring credit to the Australia Police Department and myself.

I'm going to bring credit credit to the uh myself.

As a police officer for the city of Astoria.

That I will strive to preserve life and to maintain all human rights.

And then I will faithfully perform the duties of a police officer to the best of my ability.

In accordance with the criminal justice code of ethics.

So help me God said.

Do solemnly swear that I will preserve and protect the laws and the Constitution.

The state of Oregon and the City of Astoria.

That I will faithfully bring credit to the Australian Police Department.

And myself as a police officer for the city of Australia.

That I will strive to preserve life and to maintain all human rights.

And then I will faithfully perform the duties of a police officer to the best of my ability in accordance with the criminal justice code of ethics.

So help me God.

Hi two brothers, here's a thing.

So for those online who can't see, we have a room full of law enforcement officers, many of whom are uh going back to work and our previous fire chief, uh long previous fire chief, Leonard Hansen leaving the room.
