Discussion Items

1. FY25/26 Budget/Work Plan: Discussion was held. April Maynard will prepare the commission’s requests. The allocation will be $5,000; programs must be on the work plan worksheet, and programs not on the worksheet must be presented to and approved by the City Council before starting.
2. OT/High Street Underpass Path Project: Officer Silva obtained approval to solicit donations of paint for underpass pillars. The commission concurred that security measures (e.g., camera, lighting) are needed before painting pillars, and a detailed project and fundraising plan is required.
3. Auburn Art Walk ’25 Update: Mary Pivetti requested help distributing Art Walk postcards. Because the ACPC grant was not received, there will be no bus service.
4. Make Music Day June 21: Musician signups are in process.
5. Leadership Auburn June 25: Barbara, Doreen, Ryan, and April will participate; Mary is unavailable but will try to find an artist to participate in hands-on afternoon activities.
6. Artist Resources and Training Remote Workshops: Mary reported that June 26 is a Faso website creation workshop and July 31 is a Google Drive workshop.
7. RFP for Public Art at Caltrans Roundabout: The proposal period closed with eight compliant proposals received. The budget was initially $175k but changed to $250k due to federal tariffs and increased material costs. The evaluation panel selection deadline is June 26. A public input meeting is scheduled for July 22 at 6:00 PM in Council Chambers. The panel selection will be considered on the August AAC agenda for recommendation to council.
8. School Park Preserve - Summer Series Concerts: The concerts start June 15.
9. City Hall Gallery: The Art Walk artists show is installed with a reception on June 6 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.
10. State Theatre Wall: The State Theatre is seeking artists for a plywood wall installed during demolition; questions remain regarding compensation.
