Economic Development Commission Special Meeting

The Economic Development Commission held a special meeting on August 2, 2017, at 5:35 p.m. at City Hall Room 10. Commission members discussed city updates, marketing efforts, and approved billboard artwork. Notably, Chair Christine Ubbink resigned effective immediately.

Public Comments & Testimony

• April announced the Summer Series starting June 19 with the Co-op event and the Western States event at the end of the month.
• J. Ross Parelli reported a grant opportunity through the California Cultural District, a $5,000 matching grant for two years, and will provide more information at the next meeting.
• Kelley Davis mentioned that the Auburn Host Lions Club grant for bike racks prioritizes reaching out to schools first before considering other locations.
• Chair Christine Ubbink thanked the commission for the opportunity to contribute and announced her resignation effective immediately.

• City Updates (Jonathan Wright): Land use vacancy rules were presented at City Council the previous night and will return for a vote on June 23. Documents are available on the city's website.
• Marketing Efforts: Sacramento Bee ads, email blasts, 30,000, and website links to Explore Auburn were discussed.
• Review and Approve Billboard Art: The deadline for submission had passed and the artwork was complete. April made a motion to approve the artwork for additional dates (a scenic picture with the logo), seconded by Jason. The motion was approved unanimously.
