Streetscape History and Art Advisory Committee Regular Meeting - October 28, 2022

• Tile Review and Approval – Two nominations were reviewed: William B. Lardner (liaison: Chris) and historic tiles for John Crandall and William & Mary Crutcher. All wording had been approved at the April 23 meeting; final approval was pending.
• Tile Engraving – A cost estimate from Ruhkala for five tiles totaled $5,248. The tiles are for Leadership Auburn, Kee Chin, Charlie Yue, Harriet Crandall, and David Albright. Modifications were needed for the Albright and Yue tiles. Engraving is scheduled for a fall lettering session in October/November.
• Kiosk Signage and Pedestals in Central Square – A kiosk subcommittee presented design and cost ideas. Discussion included the possibility of a new digital tile map design.
• Unveiling Ceremony & Public Awareness Planning – The next event was scheduled for June 23, 2026, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM in Central Square. Another ceremony may occur in October/November pending engraving of current tiles.
• Tile Engraving – Future Tiles – A tile for Lee Buckingham was noted as approved for future engraving, with fundraising by the Auburn Arts Commission (not yet paid). No paired historic tile is needed because a historic tile has already been engraved.
