7:00

We'll now move on to the executive director's report.

7:03

Andy, do you have any items for us tonight?

7:06

Uh yes, Chair, I'll be brief.

7:09

A few items.

7:09

Um, since we the board just uh approved the letter of support for the large-scale um community visions grant.

7:17

I'll give a couple details on that.

7:19

Um, this is a Metro grant stemming from uh Parks and Nature Bond, I think that was in 2019.

7:26

Um to date the Metro Council is not awarded any um large-scale community vision grant funding in Washington County.

7:32

Um we expect the grant cycle to be highly competitive.

7:35

Um so there's some details um in the letter that you can see the applications are due at the end of May.

7:42

Um it's uh right now the city is going to be requesting eight million dollars in funding.

7:47

We've we recently found out this is the max um amount available.

7:52

Um let's see the grant funding would be used to secure property along downtown creek corridors and adjacent upland areas, enhance creek conditions and expand our stormwater capacity and construct natural elements of the public park elements for the Lombard West affordable housing uh development.

8:11

There are a few projects such as Beaver Ding Creek Trail and Lombard West that will contribute to the matching funds.

8:18

And as you can see at the end of the uh agenda bill, we have uh 1.5 million dollars budgeted in the FY27 budget to support the Creekside Connections project.

8:28

So we still have uh another month of work to do before the grant application is due, but everyone's excited about that, and we definitely appreciate the city council and the Bureau Board's uh support on this project.

8:40

Um Tyler mentioned opportunity zones earlier.

8:43

I just briefly touch on uh the staff is working on that um as well on May 22nd.

8:50

Uh the city all jurisdictions need to advance their preferred census tracts to the governor, and then the state and business Oregon works through those and in July or later in the fall.

9:02

There's ultimately a decision made by the state for the opportunity zone 2.0 census tracts.

9:08

So we're working on identifying um uh those as well.

9:11

Some of the uh criteria has changed since opportunity zone 1.0, and as Tyler said, our Bureau properties won't bureau properties won't be um eligible, but there will still be other opportunities throughout the city.

9:26

Um we closed on a couple of the Beaver Dam properties that the Bureau Board has um authorized for purchase, and uh we'll have one more uh this week.

9:35

So those things are are moving along.

9:38

Those property acquisitions are moving along.

9:40

Um as a reminder, Tyler mentioned it earlier.

9:44

If we're gonna try to meet the uh a new ENA deadline, uh the next couple days for bureau meetings are May 26th, May 26th and uh June 16th, which we may want to hold that if we need to do uh an ENA adoption for uh uh for new property.

10:00

And then finally, I wanted to introduce someone uh that just joined the city yesterday, and she was uh her face was up there earlier.

10:07

But um, yeah, Carolyn Sullivan just popped up.

10:10

She's the city new city's new CFO.

10:13

Um, I really shouldn't be the one introducing her because I only met her during the interview process, but she did start yesterday.

10:18

So, Carolyn, if you want to give a couple words, I think it'd be great for the board to learn a little bit about you.

10:24

Yeah, thanks.

10:24

Um nice to meet you all.

10:26

I'm sure we'll be spending a lot of time together.

10:28

I am the new CFO for the city of Beaverton.

10:30

Um I recently left my position as the chief administrative officer for the Oregon Department of Transportation, and uh most of the rest of my career was in private industry.

10:40

So I'm really interested in sort of bridging um that gap and and uh bringing my talents to the city.

10:46

It's been a wonderful experience already just in the last 24 hours, and I'm happy to be here.

10:53

Great.

10:54

Thanks, Carolyn.

10:55

Sorry to put you on the spot, but you were here.

10:58

So we've heard um yeah, and that's it.

11:01

Uh board chair uh teeter.

11:03

I'm happy to take any questions or answer any for folks.

11:07

Thank you, Andy.

11:08

We'll go to board member Hassan first.

11:13

Thanks.

11:13

Uh not necessarily a question.

11:15

I will just say welcome, Carolyn.

11:16

You're in the best city in Oregon.

11:19

Hey.

11:20

Thank you.

11:21

You're welcome.

11:22

Um I just wanted to say um I was really excited to see uh that we're putting something in for Metro, but I did want to share um Councillor Kimmy and I have been working with some community members around the multicultural center concept and just what that looks like and starting to bring that to life.

11:38

So we're starting to have more conversations, and as we start to have a better sense of what that looks like, Andy and staff, we want to make sure we're bringing you in along with members of the council and the board.

11:48

So we'll keep you posted as that continues to evolve.

11:52

Thanks.

11:53

Thank you, board member Hessen.

11:55

Anyone else?

11:59

Okay, I'll give one final comment of my own.

12:02

Thank you.

12:02

And the staff who presented tonight, thank you.

12:05

Uh Carolyn, welcome.

12:07

Really to have happy to have you here.

12:09

Uh, you're coming at a fun time one more.

12:11

It is a bunch of budget issues.

12:14

So welcome.

12:15

We'll solve them.

12:16

Yeah, we will.

12:18

All right.

12:19

Well, I don't see any anything from anybody else.

12:22

So uh just final reminder that our next Bureau meeting will be May 26th, 2020 2026.

12:28

I forgot what year it was.

12:30

I but thank you, everybody, and hope you all have a good night.

12:32

We are adjourned.

12:34

Good night, everybody.

12:36

Bye.
