The Bloomington Board of Zoning Appeals held its first meeting of 2026. Members present: Ballard, Sinca, and Rock Morton. John was absent. No petitions were heard for final action.
Consent Calendar
- Approval of Minutes: Unanimously approved the minutes of December 18, 2025.
- Continuation of Petitions: The board continued the following petitions to the February 26, 2026 meeting (after noting the agenda incorrectly listed February 19): ZR 2025-12-0114 (Paul Pruitt and Keith Klein, 2511 North Dunn Street), ZR 2025-12-0116 (HE Rentals LLC, 1004 South Henderson Street), ZR 2025-12-0117 (Rusty Wampler, 105 East Frisco Drive), and ZR 2025-12-0119 (Monroe County School Corporation, 3901 North Kinser Pike, continued due to incomplete public notice).
- Continuation of Docketed Petition: The board voted unanimously to continue ZR 2025-12-0115 (Value Built Inc., 614 North Grand Street) to February 26, 2026, because the petition must first be reviewed by the Historic Preservation Commission before the Board of Zoning Appeals can hear it.
Discussion Items
- Removal of Prior Petitions: Staff reported that an administrative appeal had been filed to preserve legal rights but was resolved, rendering the appeal moot. Another petition was removed because the applicant did not submit a complete application for public notification; if refiled, it will be placed on the regular agenda cycle.
Key Outcomes
- Election of Officers for 2026: The board elected Bill Brock Morton as President and Flavia Brown as Vice President. Both votes were unanimous.
- Next Meeting: Confirmed for February 26, 2026, in the regular chambers.
- Adjournment: The meeting adjourned without further business.
