Bourne Select Board Meeting - May 12, 2026
The Select Board met on May 12, 2026, to conclude regular business, set upcoming meeting dates, and identify future agenda items related to a bike path, parking, and fire stations. No agenda or minutes were provided with the source transcript.
Discussion Items
- The board discussed scheduling: the ninth was noted for bonds and the 30th for year-end budget adjustments. The speaker stated that bonding information for the fire station would not be ready for the second (date not specified).
- A member raised a letter received that day from MassDOT (transcribed as Mastod) that was not included in the board's correspondence. The member said the board should add a follow-up agenda item on the bike path workshop, make decisions, and communicate how the board feels about the bike path.
- The same member reported driving by the bike path area and observed that parking is an issue, calling for a discussion about parking.
- The member requested a discussion about the Picatsett (likely Pocasset) fire station and what the town might do with it. They proposed adding the Monument Beach fire station to that discussion, explaining that the board should not wait until two years after the building is built to decide its use. They also noted the upcoming Monument Beach marina project as a reason to consider whether that land could fit or not fit into future plans.

Meeting Transcript
The ninth for bonds and we need the 30th for um budget adjustments at the end of the year. Okay. But we can't we won't have the bonding information ready for you for the fire station on the second. Okay. I do have an item given the letter that we got today from Mastod. It wasn't in our correspondence. Um I think we need to have a follow-up agenda item on that workshop. Um I think we need to make some decisions and we need to communicate how we feel about the bike path. I did actually go back and drive by and look at the parking the other day, and parking is an issue. We need we need to have some discussion about that. I I had mentioned before that I wanted to have a discussion about the Picatsett fire station and what we might do with it. I think we should be adding the monument beach fire station to that discussion because I don't think we want to wait until two years after the building's built to decide like you know what we're doing. I think we should be talking about what we might do, especially with uh Monument Beach project coming up for the marina, like we should talk about what what what how could that land fit in or not fit in? So those are things that I'm interested in having on the agenda. Okay, okay. All right. We have any motion to adjourn. Oh, but we went through the the meeting. Let me just run that real quick. I'll just say it whatever. The next meeting seems too yeah. So our um just so it's on public record, so we have it. So next meeting dates, May 26th, Select Board 630, Sewer Commission at 7, June 9th and 30th, select board, June 23rd, Board of Sewer Commissioners. Do I have a motion to adjourn? So move. All right, we have a motion for May Marie by the second. Second. All right. All in favor? Aye. Aye. Thank you. Thank you, Maile.
