The Bozeman City Commission held a regular meeting on August 18, 2026, beginning at 6:00 PM and adjourning at approximately 10:20 PM. The agenda included a large consent calendar, action items on property tax mill levies, utility rates, special district assessments, and a resolution to add transportation safety to the city's strategic plan. The commission heard extensive public comment, including concerns about tax burdens and the equity of special district assessments.
I want to welcome everyone to tonight's city commission meeting. Thank you for joining us. We have a media agenda to get through. It's amazing what happens when you take a week off to the consent agenda. I um just a quick couple of ground rules. If you are interested in in commenting or writing on items on this agenda, we uh we ask that you send your comments to us by email at comments at Bozeman MT.gov or visit our public comment page on our commission uh website prior to noon on the day of the meeting. Everything that was submitted at prior to noon was distributed to the five of four of us and was read. Um thank you for that comment. And um public comments are also accepted tonight in person and through video conference during the appropriate agenda items. But you may only comment once per item, and oral comments are usually limited to three minutes. We do have a timer, it'll go down to two minutes. You'll see a yellow light light up, and at their three-minute mark, the red light will flash and you'll get a beep. And we ask you to just wrap up quickly. As always, the meeting is recorded and streamed through our commission video page and available onto the city on cable channel one ninety. And if you need special accommodations to either listen or to participate, please see Mr. Moss, our city clerk, and we will we will uh do our best to accommodate those. Uh and with that, if you're able and willing, we ask you to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence or mindfulness. First order of business is to see if we have any changes to tonight's agenda. Mr. Wynn, I believe we have one. We do, thank you. Um Deputy Mayor, we will not be doing the counter license revocation appeal. The appellant has withdrawn her appeal. Thank you. So we will strike item J1 from our agenda tonight. Uh and we also need to authorize the absence of our our fearless leader, Mayor Morrison. Um Commissioner Sweeney, would you care to do that on our morrison? Second. We have a motion and a second. Mr. Maus. Commissioner Sweeney. Aye. Commissioner Madrid. Hi. Commissioner Boddy. Aye. Deputy Mayor Fisher. Aye. We have public service announcements on our agenda. Do we have a public service announcement? No. All right. Let's move right into an FYI. Do we have any FYIs from the Commission? Commissioner Bodie. I wanted to let the public know that the Streamlined Bus Service is celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, and especially um this week on Thursday, August 20th, from 1130 to 130 p.m. They're hosting an anniversary celebration with live music, zero fair lunch, speakers, and some community activities. And everybody is welcome to join if you want to stop by. It's an event to thank supporters, riders, drivers, the community at large, and kind of set the course for the next 20 years going forward.
