Broward County Commission Meeting of May 20, 2025

The Broward County Board of County Commissioners met on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 10:08 a.m. in Room 422 of the Governmental Center. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Beam Furr and adjourned at 1:01 p.m. All nine commissioners were present, with Commissioner Alexandra P. Davis participating telephonically for the Consent and Regular Agendas. Discussion Items

• Item 55 (Incorporation of Unincorporated Areas): Commissioner Hazelle P. Rogers initiated a discussion on the county's policy regarding annexation of unincorporated areas. County Administrator Monica Cepero provided historical context, noting that since the early 2000s, Broward aimed to become the most incorporated county in Florida, leaving about 16,000 residents in two main pockets (Central County and Broadview Park). The county has invested over $17 million in those areas over the past decade.
