Public Comments & Testimony
- Item 26 (Environmentally Sensitive Lands Map amendment in Dania Beach): Three speakers addressed the board. Brenda Lee Chalifour requested deferral, arguing due process was not followed because the City of Dania Beach had not taken a formal position. And today we we're gonna add if you could uh we were gonna we're gonna be led by Anika Ashton and Renee Herrod. Um they're holding down the fort because Drew's not here today. Uh yeah, well, I I'm sure Drew he's supposed to be flying around Mount Everest. Like right now, right? Oh, is that yesterday? Oh, okay. Um ladies and gentlemen, it's customary that you that we observe a moment of silence in honor of notable persons from our community who have recently and let me start with Commissioner McKenzie. I don't have any anyone, but I would like for us to still be vigilant uh with breast cancer awareness. Okay. Commissioner Fisher. Oh Commissioner Davis. Thank you, Mayor. Um, I do want to recognize a uh a longtime resident and business owner in Lighthouse Point. Uh his real name was Hubert Ganter, but he was known as Pope Hoo Papa Huey. He was the Papa's Raw bar owner. Uh now Troy, of course, his son has taken over and made it even more expand, but uh Papa was always there at civic events, seafood festivals, and just really an incredible um asset to Broad County and to Lighthouse Point. So I just wanted to uh ask that we remember his family in prayer. Thank you. Commissioner Rogers. Just a little levity. Um as every year being from Chicago. And uh it's we're used to it, but uh just wanted to make a make a mention. Thank you. Let us honor uh all the brave men and women who have served and continue to serve in our armed forces both here and abroad and thank them for the service. We'll take a moment of silence. So we'll be thankful no ever nobody showed up in costume, that's good. Oh, I also want to remind everybody at 12:30 we have a legislative luncheon.
