I believe I'm technically on the agenda twice, but for now, I just wanted to introduce myself and the coordinating council of Broward.

I think the easiest thing to do is introduce myself as Ralph Stone's longtime sidekick and perhaps the one that causes the trouble so that he can come in and then diplomatically smooth things out.

But the coordinating council of Broward is a local nonprofit.

The mission of the CCB is to unite business, government, and nonprofit in advocacy and coordination of health and human services.

2016 was after the Great Recession, but long before COVID.

It was the first time that the Alice report was published.

Is everyone familiar with the Alice report?

So the Alice Report uh came out, and lo and behold, it showed all health and human service stakeholders that housing was really the biggest issue.

So if we weren't addressing housing affordability, then whether you worked in health care or education or child welfare, uh you you weren't going to be able to be successful if housing affordability wasn't being addressed.

Stone from my previous role at a nonprofit called Rebuilding Together, and I marched into Ralph's office in 2016, and I said, guess what?

Uh and I I joke that he perhaps respected me too much to tap me on the head and say, sure, but he did say, shh, you can't say affordable housing too loudly.

Um and I say that I really say that to say because back in 2016, the landscape around housing affordability looked a lot different.

You know, the the macroeconomics of housing affordability certainly does preclude local government from making the kind of investments that they need to make.
