The Parks and Recreation Commission held its regular meeting on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at approximately 1:30 PM UTC. All commissioners were present except Commissioner Bell. The meeting included a park update from staff, approval of previous meeting minutes, and a decision to table discussion on food vendor agreement changes to the next meeting.

- Park Update (Dave):
- Elite Sports Builders has been contracted to resurface the Rotary Park basketball courts, with completion expected before end of year and a ribbon-cutting to be announced.
- Resurfacing of the cool deck around the community pool and replacement of pool heaters is out for bid; work will be done during winter to minimize summer disruption.
- A community input session at Rotary Park Skate Park will be held before Christmas to gather feedback on skate park repairs and additions.
- Groundbreaking occurred this week on the Colorado River Museum expansion at Community Park, with completion planned by spring.
- Invitations for bid for handball and racquetball courts at Rotary Park are nearly ready for release.

Co-author to the Great Upheaval. Good evening. This is the regular meeting of the Parks and Rec Commission. Wednesday, October 18th, 2023. Call to order. Roll call. All commission members are present except for Commissioner Bell. Okay, thank you, Debbie. Let's uh stand for the Pledge of Allegiance. Congratulations to the United States. And to the public folks. Thank you. Open call to the public. Bill, I see you're jumping on the microphone there. Thank you. Okay, we have no people in the audience outside of Bill. Okay, so presentations we have none. Dave, how about a park update, please? Uh yes, sir, Mr. Chairman and uh commissioners. Uh we have entered into an agreement with elite sports builders to resurface the Rotary Park basketball course. This project's going to be scheduled to be completed before the end of the year uh as it starts and has the ribbon cuts. I'll make sure you're all aware of that when those things are happening. Uh, but I think everyone's gonna love the change in the basketball court courts. And we currently have the resurfacing of the cool deck around the community pool out for bid, and this project will also include replacing of the pool heaters. This project will be done during the winter. We will soon be announcing the date and time for a community input session to be held at Rotary Park Skate Park to hear feedback in regards to the repairs in additions to the skate park. Our goal is to hold this meeting before Christmas and get some impact input back to uh a contractor who we're gonna be talking to right now about the improvements that need to be made at the skate park. Uh this week ground was broken on the latest expansion to the Colorado River Museum at Community Park. The museum plans to have this job completed by the spring. And as a matter of fact, uh in between meetings, I was notified that we're just about ready to put out the invitation for bid for uh handball and racquetball courts at Rotary Park. Upcoming events that we have, um we've got a bunch. This weekend is the Cornfest over in Gary Keith Park. October 21st and 22nd is a WSL Adult Softball Tournament. October 25th at Ken Fovard Park is the walk away from drugs. October 27th through November 1st is our fall senior classic at Rotary Park. October 28th is the Great Pumpkin Race at Community Park. November 11th through the 12th is a women's is the women's senior softball headquarters at Rotary Park and Ken Fovard Park Fields. And November 13th through the 21st will be a carnival in community or excuse me, Gary Keith Park from Paul Mauer Shows. November 16th is a pop-up event at 6 p.m. or excuse me, 5 p.m. at Don Sullivan Romata 3 in Rotary Park. Um this gonna be our fall sunset photos uh event. November 18th through 19th is a WSL Adult Softball Tournament at Rotary Park, and November 25th will be our next farmers market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at community park large Romata.
